Create a seamless pattern by hand :)

Hi friends
It is a lot of fun to create seamless patterns. You can use it for wallpaper design, gift wrapping paper, textile design, tile design... the options are endless. When you design from the centre outwards (in a symmetrical fashion), it can become an infinity pattern design.
In this demonstration I'll show you the steps you need to follow to create your own design. This demo focuses on the design and painting part of the workshop.

Hi uroosa :). I'm glad you enjoyed it. I used a free scanner app called Clear Scanner, from the PlayStore.

I feel like a step is missing. How did you go from tracing paper to the final piece of paper you painted on?

Hi Halee. Thank you for your question. I showed in the video how I traced the rough sketch onto the final paper using a window's glass (and also mentioned you can use a light table). Hope that makes sense? :)

How do you remove the seam lines?

Hi Catherine. If you have trouble with colour seams and you have Photoshop, you can use the Clone Stamp Tool to reduce the appearance of it. Hope that helps?

Good day Uusha. It will be difficult to find a permanent job at a textile company without working digitally, but that does not mean you can't create beautiful textile designs and print them. There is a niche market for handmade textile sheets & rolls, but you will need to start your own business and sell your textiles directly to interior design companies. Unfortunately I don't have contacts in the textile industry as I am working and teaching as a Graphic Designer. I hope this helps you somewhat. Good luck on your endeavour! :)
