the wireframe effect can also be created by clicking "wireframe" under "surface:" when in the 3D revolve options.

Yes, and no, the mapping has some rendering bugs, just like in your example, the lines are glitchy... any idea how to resolve?

Fixed, also there is a problem with the grid "as is", both left and right sides have strokes, and they "add" to each other when the pattern "closes", which doubles the thickness of one line in 3D (and it can be very visible). the trick is to get rid of one of the stroke and good to go
