In the video, I access the Designer from my Home Ribbon. It's there because I used it before. If you don't see it in the same place, click on the Design menu at the top of your screen. The Ribbon will change and you should see the Designer button on the right side of the ribbon. Glad you found this video helpful. If you don't see the Designer icon where mine is, click on the "Design" menu. You should then see it on the right side of the ribbon. It's part of PowerPoint for Windows, unless you're using an older version. However, I just learned that this is a subscriber-only feature. Glad to see it's working for you. The Designer scans the words on your slides and suggests slides according to those words. If you want it to suggest designs with dogs or cats, make sure those words are included in your text.

Sometimes ChatGPT only creates the code for the first few slides and then adds a comment in the code to copy the previous lines for your remaining slides. You can either do that, or ask ChatGPT to provide the code for all the slides, something along the lines of "You only gave me code for 2 slides. Add the remaining slides as well." Have fun experimenting!

What happened? Did you get error messages when trying to run the VBA code in PowerPoint? If so, let ChatGPT know the error and line it happens and it will (hopefully) correct the code. You may need to do this a few times until you get to a working code. Also, I find it helps to start with a simple deck with just a few slides. Good luck and please let us know if you get it to work for you.

I got the following message when I tried to run it on a Mac: Unfortunately, as of my last update in September 2021, PowerPoint automation using VBA is not officially supported on macOS or iOS devices...Please note that the code examples provided earlier in this conversation were for VBA on Windows, and they won't work on a Mac. Anyone else?

I have received similar responses. Whenever ChatGPT tells me that it is not able to do something I know it can do, I usually respond along the lines of "Oh come on. I know you can do it! Try again." It then typically apologizes and provides a better answer.

I'm not sure if the Designer feature is available on PowerPoint 2013. If it is, then I see no reason why it wouldn't work... Try it and let us know. Good luck!

Looks great, tried it out and worked, So I assume that designer has templates that already have the moving text and so on? Also, do you recommend pluggins that are particulary made for PP?

Thanks much for your feedback. Glad this is working for you. And yes, I believe the designer has templates and pulls in images based on the content on the slides. I haven’t played with any PowerPoint plugins, so I can’t recommend any.

@@pitchcoach Coming back to you, now having several presentations created via VBA, I must say that it gives some errors which not always can be resolved. Especially when I ask to add additional bullets. For now, yes it works but not always and you can't always get it worked out. Suggestion is to export your sheets to Word instead of making VBA and then export it to Powerpoitn :)

@@XX-cv6fq Yes, it can be tricky to get to the correct VBA code. So far, I have only once not succeeded in getting to working code. That time, I let ChatGPT know the error messages and it kept returning wrong code. So I started a new chat and got working code on the first try. Thanks for letting me know your experience with this. I like your suggestion to use Word as the stepping stone to go from ChatGPT to PowerPoint.

On windows, why is it asking me to create a macro name when running the code?

I’m not sure and I don’t have a Windows machine to test it. What happens when you enter a name? You could also ask ChatGPT the same question and see if it has a good answer for you. Have fun playing with it!

I'm on a Mac as well. I have a "Tools" in the menu bar all the way at the top of your screen. Alternatively, try "option-F11".

Hmm... Not sure. My first four tabs are Home | Insert | Draw | Design. The Designer is the right most icon on the ribbon when the Design tab is active. What do you see?

Sure. I'll post them here below. However, keep in mind that you won't get exactly the same response as I got. Real fun for your the whole family...including your best friends. Write the outline for a slide deck to pitch this amazing product to prospective customers. Yes, that sometimes happens. One way to solve this issue is to report back to ChatGPT the exact error message and line it happens and ChatGPT will generate corrected code. You might need to do this a few times until you get to the correct code. ChatGPT is getting better with code, but it's not perfect yet.

I tried this but keep coming up with errors. After asking ChatGPT to correct six errors, I'm looking for another way to do this. Looks like they still need some improvements to this one.

ChatGPT can be a bit moody when it comes to writing code. When I get too many errors in a row without a workable solution, I start a new chat and often the same prompts produce correct code. Go figure...

Hmm... I'm not sure and don't have much information about your environment. Does this happen with all code-snippets you tried?
