@@SmartPoly actually i know a better way to hide head and don't mess around with modeling. Actually you can use your single piece model for character and simply mask head from rendering, using vertex painting and some nodes in material. I can show you on telegram with screenshots because material simpler to see ones🙈 already have a feature in material, don't hide shadow with that. Very helpful for FPS or really true first person 👍

Lock the camera: Right-click on the actor in the viewport or outliner and near the bottom of the menu go to Transform>Lock Actor Movement (Sequencer must be off)

I know how to make an animation of character movement and an actor blueprint of a chest that opens when you approach and press a button but I don't know how to combine the animations(I'd like to see my character physically grabbing th chest and opening it).

So I closed out and wanted to come back to work on some Animations later. The CR rig is still in the level with the camera set up, but I can't seem to find the sequencer for it or be able to pull the rotate / translate options up on the mannequin. Any ideas what to do? E: Got it working there is a hide tab on animations that got toggled on probably when I was looking at animations.

@@usaidsajid6890 I don't particularly remember what the issue was or how (and if) I fixed it, but I now have the knowledge to sort of guess it's from your skeleton, there might be some bone there that doesn't go well with the mesh. I'm not sure tho. I remember no one answered online so good luck on that!

Just to inform you, not every one is using the Default UE5 Character. This video would of really helped me out because im have problems with one animation that i cant fix and i figured this was it but it was not.

Additionally, I wish he made an animation in this video that was a bit more complex than just the hands moving up and down in front of him. I wish he did a little bit of finger animation. This guide IS helpful just for teaching you the *absolute basics* of animation, but it's really not that helpful to be honest. Obviously, we're going to want to make animations that are more complicated. For example, I was trying to just make the character raise his right arm and make a fist - but I couldn't animate/reposition the fingers properly. They always wind up looking twisted, elongated, fucked up. And the "FK" setting applied to the arms and hands doesn't seem to affect the fingers at all, so it's easy to screw the fingers up when trying to animate/reposition them. It was like impossible for me lol

Great tutorial! I added arms from the Adventure Character, but they look stretched out, so I deleted everything but the arms from the UE5 default character in Blender and then reimported them as their own skeleton. But I can't figure out how to add this custom animation to my state machine for those custom arms? I set them in the input settings under the letter 'z', but they don't show up in the asset browser. Any Help?

Hey, i know it's been 7 months but someone else might find it helpful. Basicallynow you have options in engine. You can go to plugins and enable skeletal mesh tools. > Duplicate your Manny or Quinn and then open the duplicate. click on the mesh, and you will see the modeling tools button on the top toolbar, use poly cut to remove pieces of mesh you don't need. It will still work with the Control Rig!

As I said to someone else, this tutorial is basically useless. At first viewing, you think this guide is helpful. But then when you actually get into making your own animation, you're suddenly realizing: "But wait.... How do I do THIS? How do I do THAT? There is SO MUCH that this tutorial fails to explain!!!"

After watching this video, I attempted to make my own little first-person POV animation - the character raising his right arm and 'flipping the bird'. When it came to animating the individual fingers, I wound up rage quitting 😂 The fingers themselves aren't affected by the "FK" setting, so it's very easy to get them twisted up or just screwed up looking. There MUST be some way to "FK" the fingers. Because I just couldn't animate the fingers correctly, no matter what I did. The fingers just looked screwed up, no matter what. I couldn't even make a proper looking fist. So yeah, I rage quit. Needless to say, I have a newfound respect for professional animators. It can be seriously challenging and frustrating.

This is a great starter video! Please make that Rifle tutorial you mention at the end! For about 6 months I've been tinkering and toiling over Marketplace animations and it's dreadful...retargeting issues, animation errors, reloading weapon errors, just errors all over the place. I keep hearing about Control Rig and that it's just easier to make your own weapon and arm animations rather than deal with Marketplace animations, I think now I am ready to start making my own! Yes. Go to your camera actor details, scroll down until you find mesh, then import said camera mesh into your game, and BOOM! Better styled camera.
