Hi, first up, your posts are great. Short sharp and informative. This post about spot leves is nearly what I need but can we do the same thing but with volumes? I'd like to grid up borrow pits and show the volume avaiable in each grid. Getting the entire volume of the pit is easy but getting CAD to calcualte and display in a standard grid has got me stumped, any ideas?

Hi. Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure if you can display the 'volume' in each grid, but you can display the difference in height between 2 surfaces on a grid. This requires you to have a base and a comparison surface, from which you create a volume TIN surface. After that, it's just a matter of changing how that surface gets displayed, so that it shows elevation differences rather triangles. That wold allow you to see the height difference at 4 adjacent points in a square, and if you average those figures and multiply by the square area, you'd get the volume in each square grid. I know this is only a partial solution to your questions, but it's all that comes to mind at first glance.

@@CADandStuff hi, I found the answer, the Earthwork Plan Production command does the trick. Still love you vids, watched another one tonight.

how do you remove the labels?

Set the point label style to “No Display”

CAD and Stuff if you want to relabel at a different x y factor then the old labels are still there

I’m not at a computer right now to try different solutions, but perhaps one way would be to put the old labels on a layer and that you then turn off???
