Peat block, it's the perfect subtrat beacause it as a low but noticable acidity, preventing any mold/rot or mildew and stay stafe for animals, and nutricious for tropical plants. You can have quite same result with Coco Fiber (more acidic, little salty, rot-proof ), and Xaxim, that is a kind of tropical palm bark (more dry, contains tropical spores that will make tropical fern by itself). For incredible green moss on vertical walls, the best materials are thick coco fibers in rolls (like a carpet) or synthetic materials called Hygrolon (a kind of thick braided fiber) or hydroponic felts but water must droping in little cascade all day be nutricious and larges lights pannels.
