Hello Tom... As a planner we are creating a S curve for progress report based on the cumulative work but we track the update through % complete which is duration based. Is that the right way to do?
@ExcelInsights26 күн бұрын
An S-curve is usually for tracking accumulation of resources. Unless what you are planning is to visualize the accumulation of days worked-- your plan may work. Otherwise, it seems like what you wre creating is a line chart that shows progress of % complete-- not accumulation.

thanks for the information, but while I am generating the s curve report (baseline cumulative work VS Cumulative actual work), I am getting values 0 in the pivot table. unable to generate the s curve. would you pls help me with that?

You should do resource loading to your schedule to be able to generate values.

same problem i am facing and don’t know how to do resource loading in existing project file

Can you tell me where this data is being taken from? I did exactly what you said but baseline commutative and commutative work both won't show anything at all. My box is empty and is not showing bar chart as yours.
@ExcelInsights2 ай бұрын
This happened to me before. From what I read, the OLAP is corrupted. The solution I found working was to copy the project data from the Gantt chart view and paste that on a new file.

@@ExcelInsights is it because of the resources? because i am not assigning resources as i have to only track % of the project and not the man hours or machine hours.
@ExcelInsights2 ай бұрын
Yes, the assignment of resources is part of the things you need to do exactly.

Hi there again. I have a problem which I think you can help me with. I have prepared a project schedule around 374 activities with start and end dates, now I want to show in an overview sheet which are the upcoming tasks for the coming week and late tasks also. Can you tell me how to do that? Is there any video which shows that? I am trying to highlight them but I am trying to show them in an overview dashboard. Please help.

@ExcelInsights Жыл бұрын
Hi, do you mean you want to show the chart as a bar/column chart instead of a line chart? Because if yes, then that is not an S-Curve anymore. Did I understand your question correctly?
@giacomov83 Жыл бұрын
@@ExcelInsights sorry..I was meaning the view in tracking Gantt with bar charts of planned Vs baseline..that is how normally tracking Gantt displays the Gantt chart! Solved!

Hi! Many thanks for the video. Is it posible to do this curve for a daily calendar?
@ExcelInsights2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you just need to continue collapsing the Excel data to daily. However, daily curves tend to be not as smooth looking as weekly curves.

This is truly outstanding and precise explanation! . Is it possible to assess or forecast the future rate of work by S-curve?
@ExcelInsights Жыл бұрын
Excel can do this by means of regression analysis. However, it requires that your dates are evenly separated.

This is auto calculated based on the dates (both the initial and actual) you enter in the Gantt chart.

This was a problem with Project 2010 (and actually other programs too had many problems during the launch of 2010 versions that Microsoft released what we call "Service Pack 1" that fixed many issues in the 2010 versions.) I cannot find the link to it anymore. Maybe you can be lucky and find the "Service Pack 1" update or get the more recent versions of MS Project.
