I've been struggling to figure out how to make a specific kind of swirly swoosh thing in either Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer and this is the only one I've found that's shown me what I needed to know. I couldn't get the width profile right with the specific shape I want. 💚

What’s great too is all these methods you teach can make it easier to make pattern brushes for Corel painter. Just export as .png and load into Painter and go from there.

I guess it is just personal preference whether you use the width profile and spiral tool or go freehand with a brush.

Your first swirl that you created by hand was almost perfect. Is there something in my settings that will clean up the edges or straighten the swirl? Thank you again.

I do not understand how you changed the corners of lines in the beginning of the video (you made them sharp on their ends) This video is very helpful for my work projects. Thanks a lot!

Using the width tool, select one of the two anchor points at the end of the stroke. Moving one anchor point affects the selected anchor point AND the anchor point on the opposite side of the path. You will notice there is an anchor point on the original path at the center between the two anchor points. To form a sharp point, move the selected anchor point until it is positioned on top of the center anchor point.

hey ich hab mir die Pinsel jetzt selbst kreiert aber iwie wird der Punkte Pinsel bei mir nichts, das werden iwie striche, obwohl es vor dem Speichern noch Punkte waren. Kannst du da mal n Video machen? GLG

I don't seem to be able to draw smooth swirls at all. They always wind up jagged and never turn into a nice circle shape. I'm using a mouse and not a drawing pad. I can't afford one. Is that the problem?
