Great video - I would use the Fill effect rather than the tint, because if your original box is anything other than black or white, the tint color won't match your selection. You can see it clearly when you change the box color and the shade of red turns out different than your selection. Also, if you click "Y", you can move that anchor point without moving the attached objects. It'll save you a ton of time! Thanks for the video - you've taught me a lot and now I gotta knock out some .MOGRTs for some clients!

Why the need for null objects and why the need to pre-comp the shape layer (box)? Especially if you can create groups within the MOGRT

I think it's because keyframes can't be edited/exported with MOGRT files. So in this case the null animation stays constant but then you can animate the text itself within PPRO because it never had keyframes attached to its position properties.

Excellent Video - It was very handy in creating a custom branded intro title and graphic combo for my employer's videos. The only bug I've encountered is when trying to drag "Position" into the Essential Graphics Panel, I get the following "After Effects warning: Property type is not yet supported for the Essentials Graphics Panel."

Hi, Great video, appreciated, there's one thing that I'm having a little difficulty with and that is that after opening up the mogrt and dragging it into the timeline, when I go to Edit where all the controls are, the color control for some reason does not pick up the exact color that I try to change whether it is for the text or background or for other objects that I have the color control option for. If you followed his tutorial and used tint, thats because your original object isnt black or white. Tint maps black/white to x color. If your original object is something other than black or white, it will modify your outcome.

The purpose of the Null object there is to make people who don't know how to use after effects go woooooooooow he's so wacky and cool and uses null objects, he must be a pro. and makes people who use after effects daily want to shoot themselves in the eye to unsee whatever he just did.

Check to see if there are Background controls, for the MOGRT, in the Essential Graphics panel. Have you tried placing the MOGRT over footage?

@@davidboerst4789 I would not use the Tint effect on the Shape layer in After Effects. This might be causing issues. Use Generate / Fill on each element and drag the Color values directly into Essential Graphics.

@@ryanmccutcheon1295 a lot of the videos i saw does it too and i am also wondering the same thing. also, when he did the bounce effect by adding another keyframe, can't you just do that on the graph instead of manually adding keyframes? as well as the moving of the anchor point, can't you also just move the anchor point itself with the tool? or that wouldn't work to be a mogrt file or some sort? i hope somebody answers me.
