Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed the video. I have a few adult toads that reside in my yard and they have their own space in separate gardens. These toads have had a lot of babies over the past few years, so we have to be very mindful where we step when we are out in the yard. I also put clay pots out in shaded areas; under trees and shrubs. I also put short pieces of 2x4 wood in my window wells as I have encountered a toad that had jumped in the window well and was not able to get out. I am blessed to have noticed the toad in time to rescue him and help him out. Since adding the 2x4 planks this allows any toads that might be adventurous, to be able to climb out of my window wells. I would also like to mention... to any one who has an outdoor fire pit or chiminea, please clean out the ash before next use. Toads love to bury themselves under the ash! If the ash is not cleaned out or inspected properly before your next bonfire, chances are you might see a toad in your fire pit too late and cause serious injury or death to the toad. Enjoy creating your toad homes as toads are very beneficial to every yard and garden by eating many insects and slugs ❤🐸

This is exactly what I was looking for. I am glad you mentioned providing water. I hadn't thought of that. I have a couple toads who stay in my flower tray. I need something for them after I plant the flowers. Thank you very much.

I'm so shocked this video has few likes, this is a very informtative and useful video thankyou so much! I have a question, almost all of the times i have spotted toads in my garden they have been on a stone patio or concrete as these are shadier spots in the garden, would a toad house work ontop of concrete or stone slabs?
@kellyh44155 ай бұрын
I don't see why not. You can create hiding places with overturned pots and wood piles on your patio stone. The toad is probably enjoying the temperature radiating from the patio stone, whether warm or cool. He most likely has a burrow very close to the patio stone or concrete.

I have a couple of frogs and a garden snake in my yard. If I make a frog house should I put 2 openings just in case a snake tries to enter?
@obsidiansea4 жыл бұрын
Yes, they say you are supposed to make sure it has two openings!

Great idea! I see toads on my porch every night. How far do they travel to eat? I have no idea where they stay because my yard doesn't seem toad friendly. I could make them a place at the back of the yard about 40 ft away...is that too far for them?

Simple way to make a toad house VS buying one for $30. Thank you!

Question, given that insects are dying off at tremendous rates, will helping toads remove needed insects?

You think youre building a toad house but youre really just setting up a snake hide. But remember to go check for inhabitants, and hope theyre not angry
