Make a test panel or two to see what the resulting finish is going to be of your proposed color scheme. The colors and technique show in this video works. If the guitar's owner is a friend, ask them to by the needed paint materials. That you're doing a paintjob free-of-charge is a big gesture, they should reciprocate and but the right paints so the result looks great and is long lasting. Thank you.

@CreatexColors Жыл бұрын
We've not tried to reverse paint a marble effect, so not sure if this works, but you can test by first applying candy2o, then, backing that with a clear (2k best option) so as to prevent the silver and candy2o from bleeding into one another. After the silver marble effect, back with 6002 AutoBorne Sealer Black. Compare this versus painting the outside of the RC body and applying a clear over the candy2o. Thank you.

candy2o are dyes intended for exterior coatings, same as what is used in quality solvent-based candy colors. The resin is a durable acrylic-polyurethane, intended for exterior automotive & architectural-grade coatings. Since their introduction in the late 1990s, Createx paints have proven to be a long-lasting, durable paint for use in an automotive base-coat / 2k solvent-based clear coat. We're also proud to say Createx paints won best of paint and 2nd overall (an Elite 8 car) at the 2020 Detroit Autorama's Riddler Competition. Thank you.

I am thinking about using this technique for the base on my motorcycle tank, and then pinstriping over it... is the texture caused by the marbling a problem.. when you lay the plastic on the substrate, you can see in your video that it leaves a texture as well as a pattern.. is that going to cause problems with the clear?
@CreatexColors2 жыл бұрын
This technique will require 2 clear sessions to bury the marble effect. Apply 3 - 4 coats of clear, scuff flat using @ 600 - 800 grit, then apply 2 or 3 more coats of clear. Make sure to keep re-coat times open so there is enough flashing of the solvent. Thank you.

I have noticed that you (like me ) like to touch the project fairly often with bare hands , are you prepping the surface often with a degreaser? if so what are you using and how often. My clear coat guy has reprimanded me many times about it... he clears my stuff at his body shop with PPG products.
@CreatexColors4 жыл бұрын
Good question. 1) This is a demo panel, and if for a real client any touching of would be with gloves on and 2) most of the touching was over masked-off edges; the tape was a few inches deep for the underlying , silver tribal-graphic. This paint was removed with the tape and the underlying silver top-coated with a 2k clear. Cleaning Createx paint prior to clear is surprisingly not as critical as with solvent-based paints, however its best not to contaminate the paint, so you're correct that gloves should be worn or paint not touched prior to applying the clear. Thank you.

Dude, you do some sick work! I have a couple questions if you don't mind. I've been airbrushing RC bodies for myself for about 3 years now and my hobby has turned into a side business that's really taken off. I mainly use Spazstix and Pro-Line Candy paints for Candy jobs, and for everything else I use Faskolor,Pro-Line, and Wicked. I've been wanting to try Auto Air Candies,but have wondered if they'll adhere to lexan? I've got a Harbor Freight HVLP sprayer and a Detail sprayer that I use for liquid mask,but for my airbrushing I use my Iwata TRN2, Eclipse, Revolution,and Neo BCN. Does Auto Air have to be sprayed with an HVLP sprayer or will one of my airbrushes work? My TRN2 ,Revolution,and Neo BCN have .5 needles/nozzles and I have .3 in my Eclipse. Any tips or advice you could give me before I try and venture into Auto Air for Lexan?
