I think it's a great format. In addition to the BTS, you get a sense of the thought processes and timing involved. Well done.

How do you cut the Videos?

Very informative video and results, liked and subscribed! Questions: 1. Would this be possible without IBIS? 2. Did you use an external mic?
@portal.creative

Ibis helps! Still possible, I would just the style. i.e. embrace the more shaky, 'handheld' style. Yup, I use a video mic on top of the cam for this set up

Love your new channel. I absorbed all the vids from your old channel to start taking better videos on my holidays. One question: when you make your final video, do you first look for the music and cut the scenes according to it or do you first make the final video and put the music afterwards? In my last video I was looking for a soundtrack that had the length of the final video but of course it limits the choices massively (and to cut a song in the middle sounded bad).

Get a very rough cut, then look for music, then cut again 👍🏼👍🏼

You are an absolute inspiration Alex. Following you from last 4 years and counting ❤ wowww every time I see your video I’m literally motivated to make more cinematic videos. I’m no pro at all !!! But the way you pay attention to literally colours, textures, objects, some literally common ones that no one would really notice. You put things soooo well together. Being a interior designer your videos are always so helpful and PACKED WITH KNOWLEDGE ! Thank you, for making this world a better place. Also even I am visiting London next week and this was the most help video hahaha. Thank you.❤ God Bless.

Great video Tom, and great style. It would be great if you follow up on the same video with Editing, Sound design, and the final color grade. That will make it so much more informational.

“The movements of the day coming to an end” this is beautifully poetic and I love this idea of coming up with a theme for the video to tie it all together. This is so inspiring for me to get out and shoot again!

Great style of teaching. First, you walk around explaining the techniques and showing the shots you've taken in isolation, then at the end, you show the final product of all the shots stitched together. Very enjoyable and educational to watch. Thanks and keep them coming!

Very nice. This brings up a question to which I can’t seem to find a complete answer. What is the frame rate you use to shoot your recordings? Most everywhere you look on YT recommendations are to shoot at 24fps, for a “cinematic” look, however you can’t slow that down. Now given the fact that folks like me who will be recording while on vacation with family in tow, and in a completely unfamiliar location, can’t really spend a lot time planning and recording multiple times at multiple frame rates and multiple angles and actually get to enjoy what is being recorded with the fam. Given that not everything recorded will be in slow motion (or should it?) How do you determine what is shot at 24, 60, or even 120 fps? (Let’s assume I’m using an iPhone and CinemaP3 app) So, assuming I’m running and gunning on vacation what are your recommendations? Thanks

Shot this on 2 modes on my camera, one set to 24 and one set to 60. 24 for vlogging, 60 for the 'B Roll' - I use the dial on the top to switch. On phone I would just record 24 and if you want a specific slow mo switch to 60, it's easy to switch on iPhone
@ariburgess
@ariburgess Жыл бұрын
Yeah. I get 24p for vlogging, but let’s assume I will be not talking to strangers or my phone. What goes into your decision process when you are recording, something, other than yourself, and decide to record in 24? What I mean to say is that essentially, all footage (I realize that anachronistic) will be b-roll. But all the footage can’t be slow motion and time lapses, correct? You live in London, or at least near it no? If you were recording a non vlog tourist vacation video, say 4-8 minutes long (Let’s include Cotswolds and other hamlets outside London) that you wanted to take pride in, and show to critical goofball friends and extended family, would the entire video be slow motion and time/hyper lapses? I have something in my mind’s eye, but I’m a bit concerned because once the plane lands, it will be a sprint to the plane taking off. So, using London and the surrounding area, what would you record at 24, what would you record at 60 and what you do for time lapse and what would you do for hyper lapse? Your tip about sunrise/sunset is literally gold. I was just saying to my wife, the day before your video came out, that I would be waking up well before dawn going to record - and we could meet up later when the kid and she went out. Same for sunsets. Seeing you shoot that short story at dusk was inspiring. Sorry for the long and confusing comments. Thanks in advance, for your time.
