When I decided to start my haircare and skincare line, I had so much unanswered question and yes I was scared but then I found Tonya online. I took a chance and bought both her 1 hour consultation and the Curly Girl's Guide to Hair Care Ingredients. Since then I have met with here on one other occasion and it was the best investment I've ever made. I learned so much and I totally recommend both. I will be launching next month. Thank you so much 💜 Keep doing what you do ((Hugsss))

What do you suggest for testing the safety of products if we are doing it at home?

I have natural grey 4b/4a brittle course hair. I was experiencing a lot of minor breakage, with much research, I came upon Creme of Nature Plex Breakage Defense Bond Mender Pretreatment and Creme of Nature Aloe & Black castor Oil Reconstructing Anti-Breakage Leave In. All I can say Hallelujah! These products are much needed blessings. FYI You ONLY use both products on WASH DAYS. God is good.

Hi Tonya, thank you for this and all your very informative videos. I'm currently testing a hair serum on myself before creating a line. One question I have is how long it takes the scalp to absorb products such as extracts, essential oils etc ? I've read anywhere from 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours? What's the ball park? Thanks!

Great question! The biggest risk is making drug claims on a cosmetic product. I would definitely avoid doing that.

Hello Tonya # CURL CHEMISTRY 👋 I have a question about where to buy peptides hair growth oil & I found some on Amazon, but wasn't sure, they sell a lot for skin 🤔
@brendageater39282 жыл бұрын
The one I found has copper in it 🤔 copper peptides, is this the one you were referring to?
@CurlyChemistry2 жыл бұрын
Personally I'm not a fan of buying ingredients off Amazon. Ideally you want to connect with suppliers that offer technical data sheets, safety data sheets, etc. to ensure the quality of that specific raw material.

Making hair growth oils requires preservatives?
@CurlyChemistry2 жыл бұрын
If there is a trace of water within the formula, yes.
@personmcdudeguy2 жыл бұрын
Not a chemist, but as long as the formula does not contain water, they may not be necessary. It may still be a good idea depending on how the product will be used, i.e. tub where the consumer sticks their fingers in vs. tube with nozzle that keeps water and fingers out of the product. If there is a good chance that water could enter the product (maybe someone using it in the shower or even dropping it in the shower, introducing water through their wet fingers) I say use some kind of preservative.
@HereDiianas2 жыл бұрын
But be careful with the name and claim you make to this "growth" oil as anyone could sue you for fake claim unless you have studies/ tests proving your claim.
@personmcdudeguy2 жыл бұрын
@@HereDiianas actually even worse, make sure the word "growth" is defined very carefully. Wild Growth Oil says on its bottles that it helps hair grow by reducing breakage, which is an acceptable product claim. If you try to say that the growth oil makes hair grow faster or reverse male pattern baldness, those are drug claims and the FDA (if American) will eat your lunch.

In not interested in creating a hair care line but as a consumer the natural hair care industry products have become ridiculously expensive it seems like a rip off. I use to be a PJ but luckily I've really cut back in the last couple of years. I hope someone comes up with a more affordable hair care line.
