I had to watch this twice. The first time I had it on the regular screen. The second time I put it on full screen. Love the details. You have a trained eye for beauty. Lovely work!

Thanks very much Julie, I enjoy making the flowers, sometimes a person needs a bit of an imagination to tell what type of flower they are. lol Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching. :)

Peter, do you ever use the heat activated adhesive mesh to build your pieces/components-in this case flowers/butterflies-onto and then trim mesh edges away to mortar on whole flowers? The tape on top seems fiddly in that you pull off individual pieces of glass to mortar on. Is there an advantage to the tape v mesh that you know of?

I do use alkaline resistant mesh but its not heat activated that's more expensive, perhaps a small job it would be fine. I have made flowers where I dont pull them off to stick down, it depends on the adhesive I am using and the project, thinset can squish up into the grout lines so I prefer to take the petals off the mesh and lay them down into it clearing out the grout lines as I go. If I am using MAC or Prep MultiUSe adhesive then I peel the tape off when the adhesive has cured. I really use the tape to just keep the flowers together so I can make them in advance. When Im making flowers I find using face tape easier because Im not dealing with an adhesive, so if I want to I can apply the flowers in minutes, hours or days later, using mesh on a curved substrate can be an issue because it may not sit flat in a project like the gazing ball. Mesh and face tape are great to use but it depends on the project. Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment. :)

Why dont you or Could you, leave the tape on as you adhere it with thinset and then go back and pull it off? Thanks for reminding us to overlap and not use all flowers as they are pre-cut.

A very good question Cindy. The tape can be left on however I am using a white thinset because a lot of the glass is semi transparent. I will be grouting in black and because of this I will need to make sure the grout lines are kept clear of the white adhesive which can squish up between the tess. Generally I use the same coloured adhesive that I will be grouting in so its not an issue but in this case I cant. Many of the glass tess are small and I need to clean around the edges as well as I am going or at least not long after so the thinset doesn't set like a rock. Thanks for watching and for commenting. :)

Excellent answer - I get it! Watching the grout lines for “squish.” And, with semi-transparent glass a white thinset is important. Lots to learn here, thanks again.@@TreasuryRoad
