one to many relationships are the basic relationship of all relational databases. It allows database designers to split different entities of a system into different tables and then relate individual records with others in other tables. It is one of the foundations of relational databases as set out by EF Codd in the 70s.

This does mean when you input the information in to one table, that it will impact the other table? Meaning that it will show up automatically ?

Thanks. But why not just put the course in the student table. Then there is no need to create relationships. Eg instead of Keith and then the number for physics (and then connecting to the course to the number) why not just write Keith and physics. It’s like if you write your name you don’t write your first name then a number for your surname and then create a relationship to find what name the number stands for.

Im building a very tiny database, and what I am doing is adding each different blend of tea and herbs I can find, and attributing properties to it. For example, lavender is soothing, and also clarifying. I want something where I can match these keywords to the herb/tea. How can I go about doing that in a one-to-many?
@QVisible
@QVisible 7 жыл бұрын
+Michael Walters it would be better to do this using a many to many relationship. I have another video somewhere on my channel that deals with this. This will allow a property such as soothing to be related to many differt herbs. But also can allow a single herb to be related to many property's.

It all depends on which table holds the primary key. This will always be the 'one' part of the relationship.
