It’s incredible how much you have achieved in your food forest. The amount of work on the terracing is mind blowing 😮 How did you move all those tree trunks into place? You have such a great variety of fruits trees.🌳I love your future projects. A new lake. Chickens, a green house & a nursery. Have you thought about an earth greenhouse. Which is dug into the ground. It is great as it regulates the temperature for winter it’s much warmer inside, you could build it up against the bank of the terrace.😊 I have chickens & a small veg garden & I love them. 🐓 Thank for showing us all you have done. It truly is amazing. Take care 👍🏻😊

Yeah. I love the concept of an earth greenhouse. In stead I am thinking to use the retainer wall on one of the older terraces as the backwall. In principle the samen idea. But an earth greenhouse will aĺlow for better climate management.

So beautiful, Barth!!!! I have created a food forest, too, and I know how much work it is. But now it is Paradise. Your Garden is a shining light in the darkness and the future is bright, because of it 🥰

@@borgopoggiodeifiori I am near Lüneburg, Germany in the beautiful country side. My technical talent is not too good. I know I should make another video of my magical food forest. I love to inspire people to plant more gardens like this. Your garden style is exactly how I like it. I love terraced gardens 🤩

Hi Barth, impressive project and nice of you sharing all this hard work and so much thinking which has gone into it. If it is possible to field some questions: I'd love to hear more about the screening you used to id your farm, which you refer to in another video, how did you get it done? How high is the farm ? and how did you id the species you eventually planted?

Hi Moonvoice. So concerning screening. I fell in love with the barns and knew I was going to have to construct terraces looking at the landscape. One of the first things I did was an analysis of the soil and I also dug some deep holes to see what I would find. My inspiration comes from over a decade ago when I first read about Sepp Holzer in Austria and how he converted a bare hill with monotonous vegetation into a permaculture farm based on terraces which retain water. I am at 480 meters above sea level. Species I planted are mostly found in the area. My peach trees are an experiment, because they told me it's to high here. On the other hand I believe Olive trees will do well here, because temperature don't fall below 15 degrees anymore. For the rest I am mainly experimenting with all kinds of plants and flowers. But my main focus is on creating and managing the top soil layer. Trying to keep it moist for micro climates to develop. Once I finish the work on the barns I am thinking to start a nursery. It is difficult to find good garden centers in this area with many varieties of plants and trees. By the way: Thank you for your questions and interest! The food forest is as important as renovating the barns.
