This video shows how to make a woven clay basket from clay strips. One trick I emphasize is to work quickly on this, if your strips dry before weaving them, you will potentially have cracking. When working small, this is an easy technique for beginners, kids, and kids with special needs if they have the assistance of some adults. For my kids doing it as a pick a passion project, I would encourage them to go bigger than the small one in the video.
This video is intended as either a time filler in my class- if kids want to do a fun extra piece if they have time, or truly, I intended it for the aides who may come to my class with some special needs kids who cannot do the projects my typical kids can do in class. I am making a playlist of videos for kids, beginners, or special needs kids who have the help of an aide.
Here is the link to the playlist: • Easy Beginner Projects...

I am a public high school ceramics teacher at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 30 years, the past 20+ have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; www.etsy.com/s...
I started my KZbin channel several years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!
Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!

Glad to hear you made some space for new stuff. I unfortunately have to wait til winters over to fire my pots . My husband didn't Finnish kiln until beginning of December. I'll post photos when I'm able to fire my 100+ pots, mugs, and plates. Be safe this winter and blessed be.

Thank you for your helpful instructional videos. You mentioned a video showing how you glazed this piece but I can't seem to find it. Can you direct me to that video please.

I was using Standard Brand 225- which is a cone 6 clay. You can use many different clay bodies though. Talk to your local supplier to see what they carry. I buy mine locally.
