This video shows how to make a woven clay basket from clay strips. One trick I emphasize is to work quickly on this, if your strips dry before weaving them, you will potentially have cracking. When working small, this is an easy technique for beginners, kids, and kids with special needs if they have the assistance of some adults. For my kids doing it as a pick a passion project, I would encourage them to go bigger than the small one in the video.
This video is intended as either a time filler in my class- if kids want to do a fun extra piece if they have time, or truly, I intended it for the aides who may come to my class with some special needs kids who cannot do the projects my typical kids can do in class. I am making a playlist of videos for kids, beginners, or special needs kids who have the help of an aide.

I started my KZbin channel several years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!
Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!
