Hello! From another Texan ! I love all Your Rings on the 8-10 Videos I've watched so far. The wood rings with the copper pipe & brass wire and wood SS wie & brass wire inlaid rings were beautiful and I think I have everything to Make these! : ) The Opal inlaid rings might be a bit more difficult ? I made a few Rings back in the early 90's out of Stainless Steel Valve Guides from a Diesel Engine while working offShore with bench grinder,hacksaw, sandpaper and brassO for polish it was my wife's engagement ring and she loved it! after 26 years I think I'll make Her another One so thank You for the inspiration my friend !

Kind of strange question... Im trying to incorporate some rocks(mostly granite)that my girlfriend has collected over the last year into an engagement ring. I think its possible with this method. How much would something like this cost?

I am wanting to get two wedding band rings made out of some rocks that we got from the location my fiance proposed. I was looking at making the ring itself with the rock only and not I am thinking I will want to do metal with the rock inlayed instead so maybe it will stand up to time and harder to break. How do I go about finding someone to do this for me?
@vanceraines94882 жыл бұрын
Do you buy the basic tungsten ring and then jazz it up. Or do you make the tungsten metal ring

I see that I'm way late to the party but as someone who just recently got into making wooden rings I am fascinated by your work. Every piece is absolutely stunning. I am curious about the metal rings. I noticed you had your own stamp on them. Do you forge them yourself? I'm looking into making a little D.I.Y forge to do this type of thing too but yours just looks so professional. Do you have any tips or tricks that you could offer? I would definitely subscribe if you had courses to teach ring making. Keep up the great work. Very inspiring.

@metalgirl6 жыл бұрын
Just bag them and hammer them...you can sift them through different grade sifters if you want to...just google enamel sifters and they should come up. I have opals but I HATE to hammer them because they are really nice one's and I can't find natural opals already ground up for inlay...wish I had a good resource for them.:-(

If I got you a dinosaur fossil and some meteorite, would you be interested in using it in a ring for me? Most dinosaur bones are like cutting through quartzite, the meteor depends on what kind I can get but would likely be more ductile either way.

how do you keep your cyanoacrylate from whitening when its drying up and remaing clear? is "activator" have something to do with that?
@TempestRings7 жыл бұрын
Darth Biomech it depends on the quality of the CA, I use BSI because is one of the best. It has a very high CA content and is distilled so it doesn’t have any impurities like your average glues and as a result it doesn’t crack or cloud.

@Reviire7 жыл бұрын
I have a question. Rather than mixing the different materials together like you did in the video, how would layering them look? i.e take the lapis powder, or maybe something a bit coarser than that, then add the pyrite as a thin layer on top. Which, I imagine might look like small blue chunks with the green running between them. Also, I really have to say. I don't like music in the background, especially since I tend to listen to my own. It's nicer just having the commentary on what you're doing in the background.
@TempestRings7 жыл бұрын
Reviire you can add large pieces of a mineral and then come back with a finer mineral. But you can’t really be precise with how shallow the inlays are.
@Reviire7 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest, I don't really know what an inlay is. I just came here 'cause the ring looked cool. But, are you saying it wouldn't be possible to have a ring like that? i.e, something that has blue pieces with "rivers" of green running through it.
@TempestRings7 жыл бұрын
Reviire oh I must of misunderstood, I could absolutely do that!
@Reviire7 жыл бұрын
Oh, that's cool. I hope you'll do it some time. It'd be cool to see.

ArizonaAztec that’s a JET variable speed lathe, IMO the best mini lathe you can get, but it’s $1000 dollars. I originally started as an apprentice in Native American jewelry. Now I am on my own and making new designs to make a living.

How long do your carbide tips last? It seems like stone + accidental scraping of tungsten would dull them quite quickly. Given they are ~13$ if you are using the easy start carbide tools, but geez that would add up wouldn't it?
@TempestRings7 жыл бұрын
a single tip lasts me 6 month with almost daily use, you just need a diamond stone and lapping fluid and you can sharpen the tip everyday in 2 minutes.
