Another great video! Thanks! I always seem to learn something new watching your video's. Default Values at the bottom of the setup tab this time. I'd never really noticed it before!

Thanks Phil. It is well hidden, mine was even more hidden with that pesky keystroke viewer ;-) I had a lot of fun making this, it never ceases to impress me that the CNC can reproduce stuff so accurately. I have a mostly printed CNC (MPCNC) which is all held together with 3D printed parts, the repeatability is amazing.

Great video. Never used the Assembly workbench in FreeCAD, so this was a good intro!. Please continue making FreeCAD videos :-)

Hi Carsten, thanks for the feedback. I have another video that shows assembly4 in more detail, take a look at that one too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZfJeahpgpqae7s

You have a well-defined corner on your waste board that your pieces are always butted up against. If it were me, I would pocket that corner, permanently attach your z-probe in that corner, and start referencing your Jobs to the coordinate system (corner x, corner y, wasteboard height). I think that would simplify your process a bit. (bottom height is always zero, coordinate system is always bottom left (0,0), etc. You'd never have to mark the center of your boards, but you would have to allow stock clearance on your jobs. (perhaps the default would be ok!)

Thanks for the suggestion, I have dual end-stops so I go to the machine X0 Y0 then I have a predetermined X-Y from there to the corner of that datum piece, I have predefined buttons in OctoPrint that take me there and zero the X-Y access. Then I usually set my zero to be the top of the job piece so all my gcode starts at Z = 0 that works well for me and is very repeatable.

Thank you, this video was brilliant. I'm hoping to create a surface mount feeder by sandwiching aluminium plates in a similar way.. :)

Hi Adventure The constrains in red is unreadable in a video. Tip:- make them black and every person will see and read them clearly. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for great video, just getting started with FreeCAD, moving over from Fusion 360, and have learned a lot about the tool path area, would be Great if you could do a similar video on working with 'Nested' items on a single sheet

Hi very nice piece of work still trying to get my head round the Path feature as I keep making silly mistakes, regarding the finish if this work I would highly recommend you try French Polish if you haven't before, I think you could be pleasantly surprised.

Been watching your videos for a while now and thought this cnc router was really cool. I have a wood shop so is the model you have expensive? Would it be better to have a laser cutter? Thank you for all your help and videos
@Adventuresincreation
@Adventuresincreation Жыл бұрын
The cnc runs about $500 you need a 3d printer to print the parts or you can buy a kit. The laser is good for engraving but the cnc router is better for cutting and 3 dimensional work. I have both.

Would it have been possible to copy the base (beginning) sketch into the 2nd body and make modifications to it there?
@Adventuresincreation
@Adventuresincreation 3 жыл бұрын
Great question. Yes, you can copy sketches and make modifications to them. However, it's cleaner just to create completely separate parts especially when it's something that's fairly simple. We could have even made one sketch and using a spreadsheet (parametric parameters) created both parts. - There are many ways to create the same thing and no single way is the "right" way, they are all right depending on the situation.
