The 624s are amazing! We've tested the 624's spectrum response pretty thoroughly, the boundaries are never that strict at the low and high ends for studio speakers, they don't have hard high-pass or low-pass filters, like we have in the digital domain. They reproduce audio well beyond their stated response (which is 38Hz-20kHz for the MR624), just not loud enough to make it into the spec. Roughly we got these results from our graph for the MR624: 32Hz - 22kHz within -12 dB, 38Hz - 21kHz within -10 dB, and 45 Hz - 20kHz within -3dB from a 100% flat response line. The beauty is in how low distortion remains at both ends of the spectrum, and how smooth their curves over the entire spectrum are. They are particularly smooth and flat at very low audio levels. None of the speakers we've ever(!) tested reached that wide and flat a response curve at such low audio levels, and we've tested speakers for more than 30 years. After we tested them, I bought myself a pair of MR624's for my home attic studio. Never regretted it one second.

Thank you. It's helpful reading a comment like this after waiting for a pair of the same model. Of course, the tests happen in well treated rooms, but they do give confidence.

Any idea how they compare to the XR series?
@Dr.AnonymousPro4 жыл бұрын
@@lu-ww2cn Good question, I haven't compared them side by side, but I didn't really like the EBM wave guide design when I heard it first, to be honest. It is trying to solve a problem that never existed (for us, anyway). Macky has that in the back, like many brands do, which, depending on how close to the back wall you position them in your room, is usually fine. I like the low end of macky speakers better, on average, but that is a matter of taste. And presonus is a little more on the (way too) expensive side for what you get. If money is not an issue, perhaps presonus is a good idea, but an honest comparison would be interesting.

I'm looking at a pair of 624's for my DJ controller. I've got a pair of Mackie CR4's and the sound off them for a budget speaker is immense. So naturally, I'm looking out for a pair of 624's.

I just click the mono button in my DAW. It might not be so easy to find in some DAW's tho... I agree mixing should be checked in mono at some point. I don't see the button on the Big Knob as necessary, but it would be helpful.

MR 524 or MR 624? In my setup, the position of the speakers is 20 cm from the wallIs. Is the 524 better in the midrange and treble and the 624 in the bass? Do they sound similar?
@BandH3 жыл бұрын
Both are excellent monitors for the money and they share the same tweeter. Both have excellent midrange for vocals and instruments but the 624 will deliver a more solid and defined bass. They do have a similar, signature timbre or sonic signature. >Mark

There may be an issue with the connector on one of your monitors if there is low volume and it's making constant noise. To look into this further, please contact us at askbh@bhphoto.com and we will be glad to assist you with this issue.

I don't understand why one would get the XR series... How is it better than the HR series since it has a port (a downside) and no passive radiator (a negative.)
@_trismegistus4 жыл бұрын
They are WAY cheaper, that's why. I'm just trying to figure out if they are actually better than the MR series.

Does anyone recommend mixing with 4 speakers in near field (a wall of sound - two monitors close in to the computer and two spread out further to the left and right) or is that asking for trouble?
@XVIIIPRO6 жыл бұрын
Paul Bordelon to me it seems like a recipe for trouble, the different models of monitor will have different crossover frequencies and you’ll quickly experience phasing issues which will be very muddling for any monitoring purposes
@noteventanner90336 жыл бұрын
no. phasing will be created. 2 monitors at a time is your best bet.

Здравствуйте я хочу купить для студии звукозаписи. Focal Alpha 80 или Kali LP8 или Mackie MR824 + PreSonus Temblor T10 Как вы думаете, подходит. Посоветуйте пожалуйста что купить
@respectableandserious5 жыл бұрын

That's one part of it. The truth though, is that you will need a studio as per the industry standards, with proper monitor speakers and other equipment, also as per the industry standards, in order to get an accurate mix. With the reflections and distortions out of the way, you can mix your sounds however you want to, and then play them at other studios to try and hear the difference. If it's huge, there is something really wrong with your studio, and you might need more acoustic treatment and/or sound proofing. If the difference is little, then you have a more or less accurate mix. If you do make a great sound and end up saving it as a 64 kbps MP3, you are obviously slapping your own self. It's like purchasing 10 bags of vegetables and dumping 9 of them on the way home. The first thing to do is to save whatever sound you've mixed, in a FLAC format, which is as uncompressed and as lossless as it can get. Then, if you need an MP3, or a WAV, or whatever other format, compress it whenever and however you want to. As long as you have the FLAC file, you'll be okay. You balance those two things, and you'll be good.
@andynonimuss62984 жыл бұрын
Huh! I definitely wouldn't call your setup there acoustically treated. There's hardly any treatment on that front wall and those monitors are way too close to the front wall.

I hate to be a party pooper, but I bought the MR628's and after hearing them compared to other monitors for near the same price, I'm gonna return them. The JBL 308's had much more detail for the same price. So, I'm gonna buy those instead. Learn from my mistake, do NOT BUY studio monitors before doing side-by-side comparison at your local music store.
@Dr.AnonymousPro6 жыл бұрын
There are no "MR628" speakers. You're probably a JBL fanboy that can't handle the truth, namely that Mackie beats them at almost everything now. I'd give precisely the opposite advice; Go listen to them side by side, you'll buy the Mackies when you do.
@stevenswall5 жыл бұрын
I enjoyed the 308 somewhat, though they had somewhat hard treble (I have a room that is dead with mids and highs, though no bass traps yet) and there was a little rattle and port chuffing on Jamie XX "Reconsider" at the 2:20 mark... Hopefully no port chuffing with the HR824 radiator, and I'm looking forward to something a bit less harsh. Also, build wise, the 308 seems a little cheap with that plastic waveguide instead of a metal one like on higher end Mackies.
