I create action and can be used normally But when I close the program and open it again. The action created cannot be used.

i am curious how to insert the select more than one object in the action we created?

Selecting objects is not normally something that would be done with an action, however a workaround for this would include adding a Note to the object(s) and then in your action you could click on the Hamburger menu in the Actions panel and then click on Select Object. In the box that appears you'll then add the Note text you added to the object. You would then need to have this Note added to any object(s) you want to select in any additional files. Hope this makes sense. The reason we can't record "select" actions is this would be based on the specific file size and the exact coordinates of the click in the file, while this might work for some instances, it would be rare - thus the Select object by Note alternative.

I can't, for the life of me, get ai to record selecting a layer with a specific name, or at all. Works great in PS, but not AI. I use templates every day to align certain objects to top, center, bottom, and being able to record "select Layer 1" and then top align, "select Layer 2" and then bottom align would be a game changer. Any ideas?

Hey Paul! Thank you for the question! I’ve looked at all sorts of options for how I could make this work, the only “function” to select all items on a layer is to click on the circle icon to the right of the layer in the layers panel, however this doesn’t get recorded. I’m thinking the only way you’re going to find a resolution that works for what you need to do would be to have a script created. Something I’m working on learning but not ready to create a video around at this point.

Can you be a little more descriptive... what is the action? What doesn't work? Is it the whole action or does it stop a certain point in the action?

@@MikePickettDesignCo Hi, I have an action on a layer for a map that has city names. I created an action to change the color, font size and typeface of the city names. Then I loaded that action into a copy of that map file and played it and nothing happened. I don't know what I did wrong. Can you help me please?
