Through unique nontraditional partnerships, districts have created strong and healthy
extended school communities. Together, they meet essential student needs that districts
alone cannot. The THRIVE (Together Harnessing Resources for Individuals’ Voice &
Empowerment) model has documented success in increasing students’ resilience assets,
reducing food insecurity, and improving academic and behavioral success. Gain insights
on how to think broadly about potential partners, manage the ups and downs of those
relationships, and create a community model where youth thrive.
