I have found by watching all of CPP series the "correct way" to play this game and it's so much more enjoyable because of it... I'll build a neighborhood or a park then really zoom in on the details, letting the sim run at 1x speed. Focus on adding details to a small area for 10-15 minutes then zoom back out and look around for what's needed next. This gives me very unique areas that blend in together and makes my city look more natural and real.

I've been following along with my own version of Tutoria so I can learn the mechanics head on. The park that I had built, it was on a road called Bradley Morgan Street, so I got the idea to name it the Bradley Morgan Memorial Park, I place a statue of the man on a horse, (Mr. Bradley Morgan) and then made a historical fiction for the rock formation. Lt. Col Bradley Morgan and his cavalry laid a trap for the enemy, horsemen hiding behind the rock formation with riflemen hiding within. The riflemen laid down a volley of fire while the cavalry charged from behind the rock formation which resulted in a pivotal victory and turned the tide of the war. (There is no specific war from which I'm referring to, it is all a made up history)

@jackiepaper18173 жыл бұрын
Everything in the park adds to it's entertainment level. The gates, the fences, the paths, that little gazebo, and even the rocks add to the value. That's why you started out with 400 entertainment, even though you hadn't done anything other than place a few gates and a fence. Eventually, each category maxes out. (I think after five or six side gates, you won't get anymore bonuses for adding more side gates. Trees, rocks, and underbrush seem to be separate categories and stack, as best as I can tell.) Taking advantage of this and adding my own little kid's park or little mini Stonehenge is my favourite ways of adding to the entertainment value without having to add expensive park buildings.

Another great video CPP. Very detailed and easy to watch. I learned from Lee that just adding a fence to your park can dramatically increase the surrounding land wealth and increase the attractiveness of the park itself. And adding props does the same thing. You'd be surprised by just adding a few relatively minor props can add to your city and the park itself. I've gotten a district with a nice park in the center of it over 100 credits/m^2. That's pretty awesome (at least for my cities - not sure how high people have gotten their land wealth).

Just discovered your channel and your videos make me feel better about doing curves rather than just generic lifeless squares everywhere. My main issue with curves was the fact they cause the grids to break up and generate 2x1 or odd L shapes which generate smaller buildings like those little trailers or shacks. Another thing I learned so far is districts seem to be more than about being organized which I always thought they didn’t really affect the city. I also did not know that trees lessen the noise pollution. So many things I am learning from just 3 videos in so far. I always play with mods because I never could get my cities to look like yours does in vanilla. But you have shown me my mistakes on why I couldn’t. Really surprised all this can be achieved in vanilla.
@doppelplusungutmensch11413 жыл бұрын
Should've called the amusement park Sewage Park. :D That's the "natural" way to name things like neighborhoods or parks in topography, having had a specific natural or cultural feature in a place is commonly the reason for this place's eventual name, even if the feature isn't there anymore. Like once decades ago there was a sewage facility in this place so the park is named after it. Would be great to have all your districts named after the circumstances when you built them, so in a couple of episodes we can remember long missing features.

Watching you place your zoning as a city planner really has me wondering how much different Property Developer Plays would be. Would be really cool too have a multi builder build with some more of the nuances of a mayor, city planners, and developers. The developers could even be community submissions, maybe including proposals, imposed building restrictions and requirements, more of the “political” aspects of development. I feel like incorporating more of the selfish motives of the developers would make for an even more interesting, realistic build. Anyways , random thought. Love the build.

About the nature park, it seems that the buildings do transfer energy, even if they do not need them to work, so I was able to make a long trail up a mountain using tents, cabins, campfires etc to power the secondary gate and the cable car on the top. I still had to pull a road up there but it worked out nicely enough with no power lines.

I have been playing the game for a little while now and noticed that when zoning residential housing, selecting individual cells forces smaller homes to be built, increasing density and population. When you paint all the cells green it allows the game to generate large homes (mansions), resulting in a nicer neighborhood but a smaller population. Something to consider when differentiating between inner city density and suburban density. Again, I have been playing for jjst a little bit and havnt weighed the pros and cons of this approach yet.

The best places for park gates are near crosswalks rather than along long lengths of road (like the library). Anyone going to/from the library have to walk to the end of the road to cross it. Other prime locations are adjacent (same side of the road) as public transport (bus, taxi, BLIMP, etc). If you want access across a road (even a 2 lane), an elevated crosswalk is a good idea. Parks are a good opportunity to use 'fun' public transport like trolleys, gondolas, monorails, and blimps, especially if they go between a park and a world-connection point like a passenger railway, airport, or seaport. Bus access is a must, and stops can easily be placed near existing gates. Monorails in particular are ideal for transport between world transport, large parks, and tourism zones. Intra-city can use subways, taxis, and busses.
