Excellent explanation Thanks I have a doubt. When we install Postgres, it already comes with a default cluster, right? So, is there a concept of "cluster names"? How do we know which cluster are we going to connect in a particular server.

#psql --cluster /clusterName -l The "-l" option is optional and will list the databases in the cluster

While installing we we will create default cluster with unique port number.. when we create in new cluster we will provide new data directory for that cluster ..created new data directory for that cluster will get all the new supporting directories and PostgreSQL conf file , we need edit port number for the postgresql conf file.. and while connecting to newly created cluster we need to use data directedand port number in pg_ctl command..

Why do we need clusters if "there is no relationship between two clusters in a database"?
