Creating Feature Classes in ArcGIS Pro

ArcGIS Pro stores feature classes (previously shapefiles) within geodatabases. Feature classes consist of points, lines, and polygons and are the basis of what we use when we create data for mapping. While I have used ESRI products for two decades, I was stumped when they changed their interface and I couldn't figure out how to start digitising! It's actually simple when you are in the know :) So save your time, and check this out. If you're new to Arc, then you might wonder what all the full is about!

Great video Karen. I was not seeing the infrastructure feature class that I created, when I went back into the Catalog View. I had to hit refresh to see it. . I do not know if anyone else had this issue but, I thought I would post just in case.

Hi There, I am new here to GIS. Currently taking a course and was directed to your channels-very informative-THANK YOU!! I noticed You spoke of importance of where data is created......gdb- My question is, are gdb places where real earth coordinates "link" up and into a map for viewing? Therefore, if I don't see the same content data or layers created in a ArcGIS Pro map also displayed in project pane, then there is no information in my .gdb folder????

Great introductory tutorial and I've just tried the 'measuring area' tool. Does anyone know why the area I am measuring comes out as approximately double the actual area? That is a 2.4 ha field I own comes out 5.1 ha. Strange and I can't believe that Arc is somehow faulty.

Perhaps you have the incorrect projection for your data? Check that you are using an equal area projection and the answer should be correct
