Thanks for these videos. This is exactly what I was hoping to find on Fusion 360 and cabinets. Great tutorial, well done.

Thank you for doing a cabinet series. This video series is really helpful! You are correct, there are very few (if any) "how to" videos that actually take you through all the steps of dados, rabbets, etc. Nicely done! It would really be great if you would consider taking this to the next level and showing how to merge multiple cabinets into one drawing so that we can see the process and the output. I think many of us have the same questions about multiple designs and output as described by 4FunRC in the comments, especially around how the parameters will work. Most of the videos I see on Fusion address making one item, but many times you need to cut out multiple modules / cabinets to make the most of your materials. Also, to get the best efficiency, it makes sense to layout the panels for cutting all at the same time and run everything at once on the CNC.

This would be awesome to see a group of cabinets. How does the copy paste.. Or paste new work for this. Awesome series.

I don't really see the point in creating a group of cabinets in one design file unless you are doing a proof for a customer, in which case you can edit your cabinet parameters and save it as a unique file and insert it along with your other cabinets into a different file and align them all with rigid joints. I hope that makes sense. I think I'll make a video showing you how. My busy season is nearly over so I should have more time for videos in the near future.

@@TLARinc I tend to think in terms of how am I going to cut out a series of one or more items. Usually, I am concerned with getting the most efficient use of the materials that I using, so planning for multiple cabinets/ items during layout would help optimize the sheet goods. I am beginning to do some cutting on a CNC, so being able to nest things is important. I am still unclear how Fusion handles parameters for multiple designs (if you use the same parameter / variable names in multiple items) if you were to design each one on their own and then pull them into one model for the cut layout / nesting portion). Maybe it has something to do with how Fusion handles the parameter/parametric names such as with computer programming local versus global variables e.g. each object considers the parameters for itself as unique and local, thus the names and values do no conflict between items when combined into a single file? Maybe you can help straighten out my confusion :) when you do you future videos. Again, thank you so much for taking time to help us grasp some of these concepts and learn from you. It is very much appreciated!

Can Fusion 360 add edgebanding and make net size , and do labelling for nesting? thankss

AMAZING.. I love this. I think this is the first time I have found EXACTLY what I wanted to do, what I wanted to learn and it even makes sense to me. I do have a question, is there any thing built into this, or a config that can be set that accounts for the fact you can't put a 1" dowel in a 1" hole... or a 3/4 " shelf in 3/4" dato? Or can you! Thanks so much. I would love to see the cutting and building vids.

many machines have different gcode syntax, is there a library and how do you custom edit or create a post processor in this program? In Fusion i found an existing post with similar output to what i needed, and then edited that in javascript to match my needs. That was somewhat lucky, because if i'd have to build my ownt post processor from zero, i couldnt handle that... Cheers, and tjanks for the videos, they gave me an idea or two about how to go about making kitcens. :)

Hi, this series has been really helpful for me as I get into parametric modeling. But there's one thing I'm still confused about. Obviously the model of the base cabinet you created can be used again and again, each time adjusting parameters as needed to define the exact cabinet you want. At the end of that process you'll presumably end up with all of your base cabinets sized exactly and ready to move to the G-code step. But once you start changing parameters and saving each file as a unique cabinet for your kitchen, how do you then bring them all back together for your CAM work, so that nesting can be done for every 3/4" part and every 1/2 inch part across all your cabinets rather than just one at a time? thanks

While in fusion you can open your project folder(the three by three square grid icon in the upper left) and right-click on the cabinet you want to add, then select 'insert into current design' . Fusion does not, unfortunately, allow you to share parameters across different files or designs so when your ready to cut you will have to change the material thickness parameter in each design. If you combine all your cabinets into one master file before you have your final material measurements you can still edit those parameters in each design, fusion will warn you that designs have changed and and you can update them all right from your master file. I hope that makes sense.

Nice tutorial.but why you have to use another software for caming(or genarate G code ) ?
@TLARinc3 жыл бұрын
There is no reason you can use the cam in fusion and I do for some things but I think it's over kill that's all. I now use aspire for my cam.

@@TLARinc okay, thanks for quick reply. One more question, do you use dowels or other components that you can import in to fusion?
@TLARinc3 жыл бұрын
I dont but you certainly could. If your using a cnc it's probably faster and easier to use mortise and tenon.

Yes there's going to be a video on doors and drawer fronts. Also a video cutting them out and assembling them. They both should be coming soon!
