'You have to go up to select and apply' ... this was the best relief. Nearly gave up on the layer. Thanks.

I wish my geosciences professor took the time to show us how to do this in the same way you do. Please keep posting videos and how-to's, and explaining them the way you do. Very useful!

Thanks, John. Feel free to mention other tools you'd like to see demo-ed.

Thank you for this! I've been using Pro for a few years now and had no idea this was the correct way to make a longitudinal profile! I've been making a line, extracting dem values to that, and viewing it in excel... This is much better!

It is interesting to see how long a video can stay relevant. I usually get the sense that the demo is outdated before I've finished publishing it. :)

Awesome - thanks for sharing this! Just what I needed - ability to profile from a user-defined terrain and not surface data chosen from AGOL.

And I think there is a newer - more efficient - way to create long profiles in 3.1 :/

Hi all, This is not strictly relevant to the video but I'm looking for some LiDAR (DTM) advice: I'm looking to better visualise a significant reach of river. Currently, it's difficult to analyse the river's (lateral) connectivity in the floodplain as the natural longitudinal slope of the river makes viewing the downstream reaches at the same time as the upper reaches impossible. A solution would be to somehow translate the longitudinal elevation values to "0" or so they're all the same and relatively minus/plus the lateral elevation values to cancel the slope of the river so this way you can view the whole reach relative to its lateral landscape. The thing is, I have no idea how! Does anyone have any solutions? I'm not sure if my waffle makes sense. Thanks all

If I'm understanding you, I think you are looking to create a Relative DEM. Here are a couple resources: storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/19b6bfe0c3aa454c853bd6d9b7228adf OpenTopography.org is a great hub for lidar. They have a tool that automates relative DEM calculation: opentopography.org/blog/new-package-automates-river-relative-elevation-model-rem-generation
