Hollowing out terrain isn't going to decrease draw calls (triangles) since there are no triangles on the inside of terrain anyway. In fact, you'd be doing the exact opposite and most likely end up adding more. Hollowing out terrain just means pushing the very bottom of the terrain right to the top, and since it takes more polys for terrain to render when there are bumps and valleys, you're actually going to end up with more in the end. You're probably better off leaving the bottom of the terrain flat at the bottom of the map.

Quality settings would cause the difference in draw and if you really want to drop the draw down you could set a radius around the player and any environmental assets outside that will be hidden and now rendered

Hollowing out the terrain will add more polys as now the game needs to render the bottom sides polys as well, filled objects wont be that heavy. Youre better off leaving it non hollow

Dont hollow the mountains out, it will cause more tris than when they are filled. Roblox terrain is very optimized already, except the water. Keep them filled.

hey when u said to make more natural ramps I thought of an idea, you can use the back of pickup/tow trucks dotted around the map on the roads instead of the other ones.

You should add some lakes to the game for som new enviroment and it if you add some you will need to remove some trees that will help optimization too

The terrain has a LOD (level of detail) which means it automaticlly decreases its poly count when further away and its intensity depends on the graphics quality, the high poly count is now mostly due to the terrain and you should not worry that much about it. Once you add streaming enabled and the game is done you should have no more than other high quality games like yours!
