For an extra challenge next time you do this, you can also use a random noun generator to add an extra concept to the Pokemon's design. Might take a few attempts to get one that makes sense, but it would be interesting to go beyond 'animal + element'. For example, here's the one I got: Random Animal - Flying Squirrel Random Type - Ground/Psychic Random Noun - Egghead I'm thinking of a Pokemon that was once maybe a flying squirrel further back in its (Darwinian) evolutionary history, similar to Emolga, but gradually sacrificed its ability for flight in exchange for more brainpower. It's extremely intelligent with a huge, heavy head and has vestigial skin flaps that it can't use to glide anymore.

Hoops does this and whoever he gets as artists execute it so well, I guess Ron's method gives him more creative freedom but somewhat standarizes the design and takes out the possibility of quirkiness, soo both ways of doing this have their own perks

@@kappaprimus I watch Hoops' videos too and the artist he works with is brilliant. But I think the difference would be that Hoops randomly generates an animal, type, and inanimate object and combines all of them. A random noun would give a much wider range than just objects, sometimes more abstract and conceptual. For example, some of the words I got were 'colorlessness' and 'sympathy'. Imagine coming up with a way to turn those into Pokemon designs!

Pre evolution hunts in dark and use underhanded tactics to hunt bug types. When attacked by strong pokemon, he uses darkness to its advantage and stabs them with its long finger to inflict severe status condition. It's most vulnerable during the daytime as he can't hide in the shadows, that's why it finds safe spots among rocks and absorbs minerals from it in dire situations...

Fair but I can also see where he’s coming from, bugs are very distinct and different from almost every other species of creatures in the animal kingdom. And while using them can make very unique and creative designs, when basing it off of a other more mammalian animal it would definitely lose focus of that animal without a easy seamless idea that gets both animals point across.

So technically civets are not felines, they're feliforms-- which is to say, the order Carnivora is divided into feliform vs caniform. Caniforms include canids, bears, raccoons, weasels, etc. Feliforms include felids, viverrids, hyenas, etc. Civets are viverrids and are most closely related to animals like genets and mongooses. So making it like Zangoose was a good idea.

Now to think about it, bug is really the only type that is very limiting/specific in a way that the others aren't, even if you look at the dragon type, dragons in various places do have different atributes and they aren't exactly fixed in just one thing too.

I wouldn't say bug type is that limiting. You have things like Forretress, Genesect or Accelgor, after all. I think an echidna/beetle based on those giant balloons people ride over water could have made an interestimg bug/water echidna.

Well, one idea for a dragon frog is based on the Estonian fairy tale, "The Dragon of the North," which in its original Estonian language, translates literally to "The Frog of the North." Perhaps Estonia doesn't have a different word between "frog" and "dragon?" I don't know, but either way, I had a feeling that there would have to be a dragon frog in some kind of mythology, knowing how mythology tends to be weird in general, lol. But, of course, there is indeed nothing really wrong with a Pokemon not really having any sort of connection.

I looked up a picture of a Tarsier and I'm getting ideas: *_Tarseer:_* The Sense Pokémon Type: Psychic Ability: Forewarn "Tarseer are known for their powerful sight and hearing, as well as their remarkable patience. They are mostly peaceful, but can create and enact elaborate plans when threatened or hunting prey. However, they tend to panic and act irrationally when under sudden pressure or their plans fall apart. They are also natural empaths, able to discern the intentions of humans and Pokémon alike. This, in conjunction with their powerful senses and elaborate plans, has led some cultures to believe that they can see into the future" I imagine it would have patterns on its body that look like a Buddhist monk's robes (but I can't draw nearly well enough to make it real)

After watching your first Random Generated Fakemon video, I made one of my own and ended up making a civet Pokemon. Seeing you get the civet in your second Random Generated video made me think "Oh yeah! It's all coming together!". Civetill is very charming and although my civet Frevolvet can kick its butt, it has more ties to civets than my guy. (Then again, there wasn't much I could do with Ice/Poison...) The other random generated mons are fantastic as well! ^w^

I really love this video- especially that you didn't just throw up your hands in resignation whenever the generator gave you a bad option, out of some sense of obligation, but followed your creative logic to choose a better option. It's still a randomly generated pokemon, but it makes it all the more interesting to watch and the outcome is so much better! Awesome art too

Love this series. Have you considered the possibility of rolling two animals and trying to combine them? Might be a bit too random but could make for more interesting creatures. Otherwise adding in some other random generator to add additional concepts could be cool.

I love the coffee civet concept a lot! However, the civet cats have quite the history with parfume. They used to be captured and tortured to make them angry and then they killed them to get their musk. They legit made parfume with it. Considering this, a fighting or a poison type woulf have fit that animal a lot, and maybe if you ever think about redesigning a fakemon, the civet would be quite cool~

There are several thousand frogs with a ton of abilities that could be either attacks or design inspiration. Also dragon frogs are literally one of my favorite concepts. I always thought an eye-eye Pokémon could work as a Sableye evolution. Longer, more slender design, the weird eye of an eye-eye becomes 2 massive crystals with weird pupils. And the long fingers could be crystals as well? Obviously an undeveloped idea but you see where I’m coming from haha

Honestly the echidna one gave me an idea to avoid the icicle spines: it has normal fur spines but when threatened/attacking, it freezes their spines rapidly. I honestly like this idea so that it can more easily interact with friends and feel more like a magic creature when protecting itself and family. I don't make Fakemon so... idea for whoever wants it.

Tip, for Frichidna, you could have made its feet ice skates to differenciate a little from alolan sandslash. But to do this, you would need to make it a little skinnier and increase its speed and lower defense.

My immediate idea for Aye Aye Dark/Rock was a Medusa inspired Pokemon that turns others into stone. Maybe it uses its stone claws to etch "signatures" into its stone statues

Die-Aye's design makes me think it'd make a good progenitor for the Sableye species. The eyes are the focus of the design with both, and the overall shape is similar.

To be fair, Civet coffee *Is* sustainable and humane, as in, they grow it, wild civets eat the coffee cherries and then poop out the beans, then harvesters gather the beans from their poop, clean them (Obviously), roast them, and the rest is history! The fact that it is so hard to make is what makes it the most expensive coffee in the world. I haven't personally tried it, but I intend to at some point because it sounds interesting!
