I’m 47. Just curious what mileage of a run would this be best for? If I were to run 15 to 20 miles would I need this AND a hydration?

One serving of Superfuel provides the equivalent amount of hydration as one serving of SHM. That said, 1 bottle or about 1/2 liter may not be enough to replace your fluid losses from sweat. So if you do need more hydration beyond one bottle, then our Sport Hydration Mix still fits the bill. Realize that optimal hydration and optimal fueling are not the same thing. We don't always lose calories in proportion to the fluid we lose. On hot days, you may not even need Superfuel if you are using our Sport Hydration Mix at a rate that matches your fluid losses, because you may lose so much fluid that a bottle with less calories gives you the same total number of calories. On cooler days, you may find that you're burning the same amount of energy but not sweating as much, so based on your calorie needs and lower fluid needs, a higher calorie Superfuel bottle is all that is needed. Think of Superfuel and our Sport Hydration Drink Mix as two very different types of tools. It's not that one is better than the other. One is a big hammer without a lot of fluid. The other is a little hammer with a lot more fluid.

I can do without the 18grams of sugar per serving
@SkratchLabs2 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of controversy about sugar in our diet. While we don't disagree that excess sugar or excess anything for that matter is bad for us, we do believe that the role that sugar plays in health and performance is about context. In the context of an active lifestyle and more specifically during prolonged or very intense exercise and endurance sports - sugar can be critical to helping to maintain one's blood sugar, to keeping oneself fueled, and along with sodium can significantly improve the transport of water into the body. The 18 grams of sugar from this product come from fructose. Fructose enters the small intestine across a different transport mechanism than glucose, which comes from the highly branched cyclic dextrin (a highly complex yet soluble starch) in the product. The combination of fructose and glucose increases the rate of carbohydrate absorption across the small intestine, allowing the gut to clear molecules more rapidly. Not only does this allow blood sugar to increase more quickly during exercise, it also allows water to move more rapidly across the small intestine as a higher rate of carbohydrate absorption creates a more favorable osmotic drive for water across the gut. So for quick carbohydrate absorption, for better hydration, and for minimizing gastro-intestinal distress, the addition of sugar from fructose helps.

@@allenlim1321 This is an excellent explanation! Thank you! Sadly, people now demonize sugar completely and fail to realize it has its place in intense exercise and sports. It's not something you drink while snacking with chips in front of the TV.
