I think I've seen some clips of his animated spirals before and automatically assumed they were morphing CGI forms. I had no idea they were static real life objects rotated on a lathe & filmed with a strobe effect. Way cooler!

@@peteMickeal33 both - the camera would see it because of the shutter chopping it into a sequence, and your visual apparatus would see it because the strobe light pulses, showing you only select "frames of the animation", making it apear to move. The ratio of the strobe light power vs. the presence of ambient light would change the intesity of the percieved effect.

@@arehtman3329 There would be always people who are not interested in it, but I think that showing the beauty of mathematics and what can you do with it, would give more purpose to doing boring homework, to a lot of people. I always thought I hated maths, but when I finished school and learned from channels like numberphile, vsauce, and started to apply it to drawings, for example, it changed my mind. Certainly, sentencing kids by saying "well they woudn't change anyways" won't help anyone.

I’m so glad I found this I have had a little obsession with spirals. It started in 2001 with the release of the band Tool’s album Lateralus and the song Lateralus. There are spirals EVERYWHERE, the solar system, DNA,fingerprints, plants,trees,seashells, and on and on.

I have an HTC Vive VR headset for my gaming PC, and one thing I noticed is that if I have the window on my desktop mirroring what my headset is seeing open, and I then turn on the ability to view my desktop in VR, it creates a sort of infinity mirror effect, as the desktop shows the window showing the desktop showing the window showing the desktop ad infinitum, and when you tilt your head even slightly, it causes it to spiral into magnificent infinite fractals.

@cow. I think you really mean that YOU see no meaning in life. Finding meaning in life has everything to do with perspective and attitude. Work on those two concepts in yourself and you will begin to find meaning in life again!!
