*Correction May 1, 2017: At 2:06, a graphic in the video incorrectly wrote the formula for the golden ratio. It should be B/A = A/(A+B). We regret the error.
John Edmark's sculptures are both mesmerizing and mathematical. Using meticulously crafted platforms, patterns, and layers, Edmark's art explores the seemingly magical properties that are present in spiral geometries. In his most recent body of work, Edmark creates a series of animating “blooms” that endlessly unfold and animate as they spin beneath a strobe light.

@@arehtman3329 There would be always people who are not interested in it, but I think that showing the beauty of mathematics and what can you do with it, would give more purpose to doing boring homework, to a lot of people. I always thought I hated maths, but when I finished school and learned from channels like numberphile, vsauce, and started to apply it to drawings, for example, it changed my mind. Certainly, sentencing kids by saying "well they woudn't change anyways" won't help anyone.

I mean when you start the video with how he did, it's hard not to make comparisons. He literally takes the time to talk about an obsession with spirals

I remember a dream where I saw machines with similar patterns and I was told that was intelligent design. I was fascinated. And here I am fascinated with this work. I love it

my life is a neverending downward spiral.
@danielcampos1715

Which means that there is an infinite way downwards, just like when you started, so nothing has really changed. You will never reach the bottom neither because you´ll die before that. The whole universe will disappear before anything changes in that spiral. That's what happens when you use infnitesimal structures to describe your life.

Why not a never-ending upward spiral that takes you infinitely upward, at least in thought, instead of downward?

Everything moves in patterns and is cyclable. There is something about the spiral, torus that is amazing. Cool stuff
