Thanks @guerillabill , that explained the steps from Tour to generated video file. My main issue was accomplishing video where any jerkiness in playback would not originate from the recorded video. Making sure the computer is not occupied with other processor load helps. So first step recording the tour. This can leave small smoothed out hesitations in the animation if the computer is not providing enough CPU. But turning off some other apps helped. Second step is making the video. I went for maximum UHD resolution, several GBytes. No risk for dropped frames here, the process works frame by frame of the recorded tour. Third I encode desired final resolution using the third party Handbrake app ! This is on MacOS. For example "Vimeo KZbin HQ 720p60" yields smooth low resolution high quality that works for social media sharing. That format type seems to be result in quick publishing if uploading to KZbin. Seems they skip some formatting step if already encoded that way.

Possibly the wrong place to ask but... Your explanation was excellent and finally I was able to get movie maker to produce an mp4 file. However, when I tried to play it, it was just coloured lines. Importing it into my video editor, chopping the two ends off and exporting it as an mp4, I got a usable file (I needed to chop the ends off because the first export crashed). I suspect that the 'type' of mp4 created by Google isn't the 'type' that Windows can read. No, I don't understand this stuff, still learning. Thanks again for your video, it helped make sense of something I knew should work, but couldn't actually make work. Oh, and this is much better than messing about with screen captures.

The mp4 used by Google Earth is actually using the quicktime codec. If you install that codec on your computer, it should resolve the problem. Also, playback with the free VLC player will give the best results with all video files.

I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the red pin and all the text (not seen in your video) that identifies the location(s) on the map. I searched the help section on Google Earth Pro and learned that to remove the red pin, you have to click on the "x" in the area beneath the search bar. I entered the location, hit "search," then clicked the x. Seems like if you click the x first, the location will disappear from the search box. Also, uncheck the "Borders and Labels" box under "Layers" to remove all of the text on the map. I know nobody asked for this information, but it was driving me crazy.
