The best way I've found for trimming the end off cable ties is to use a fingernail or toe-nail clipper. That will trim the end flush with the clutch leaving it smooth feeling. I keep one right in with my container of cable ties.

I learned that years ago as a bicycle mechanic. You can get a pretty nasty scratch on your inner leg from the end of the zip tie anchoring a cable/hydraulic line to your top tube. Toenail cutters clip it off just as smooth, and faster than razor blade without risk of scratching the bike.

My son rear ended another car - CARS ARE ALL PLASTIC NOW - THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS CRUNCHED IN!! The black plastic bumper was broken, the "grill" was in pieces - a black honeycombed pattern - Alaska here - no quick repair available. He went & bought super glue & black cable ties. Took 3 hours to meticulously put the pieces back together & it is AMAZING. All I need now is the plastic "chrome" thing that went across the front...

Problem #7 is better solved with a suitablely sized plain key ring, works very well. I liked the way our man trimmed off the excess every time. Walking around London and other UK cities last year, I noticed that scaffolding around many buildings under renovation on busy streets were festooned with protective padding, held in place with cable ties. Virtually none of the ties were trimmed off, leaving long plastic tails sticking out horizontally, ready to catch the unprotected eyes of passersby, of any height.

On remote radio sites, i always make two or three loops with a single tie. This way, on the next service call, if i forget to bring spares, i can cut the tie (with a razor blade) right below the large end and re-use the same tie with the spare length provided by the loops. BTW, trick 2/15 gives a really professional look with multiple RG-214/U coaxial cables.

😃😃 1:30 " Another interesting technique involves using one or two cable ties to create a figure-eight shape. Here's how you can do it: First, take two cable ties and form each one into an 'S' shape. Then, manipulate these S-shaped ties to create a figure-eight ( 8 oo ∞) configuration. Once you've formed the figure-eight, you'll notice that it creates two circular openings (the two 'O's of the 8). These circular openings can now be used as passageways for your wires or cables.😁😁 .

Some great ideas ~~ Thanks ! 👍 * Similar to #1 (the cutting of the bag) I also cut a few ties into 2" or 3" pieces which will then each hold about a dozen ties convenient in the shed, tool box, tackle box, car, etc., etc. * Now I'm feeling old too; for the loose keys and repairing a zipper head, I've been using paper clips since the 70's.

Rubber bands work great to hold WD-40 nozzles. If a zipper pull breaks, use a piece of nylon cord or ribbon instead. Loop it, tie it and heat the knot so it won’t loosen. When you use a zip tie it looks crude. Cord or ribbon looks like original material. Dental floss wrapped around a screw will work as well or better than a piece of zip tie. The example in the video had a huge hole, which is unlikely. And making your own zip ties? Life is way too short and zip ties are way too cheap to bother with making your own.
