That process of electrically removing rust is called electrolysis. I normally use washing soda or baking soda instead of salt and a 12 V DC car battery charger. I do like the idea shown in the video of using the female barrel plug with a screw terminal for connecting the wires attached to the wrench and sacrificial steel to a power source. I'll try that setup instead of the car charger in the future.

Wow! I was skeptical at first, but this method is truly a game-changer! Thanks for sharing such valuable insights. The step-by-step instructions were easy to follow, and now I can't wait to try it out myself. The key lesson here is that sometimes the simplest methods are the most effective in solving complex problems. Kudos to you for shedding light on this easy rust removal technique!

Ok but steel wool would have taken the rust off as well- but basically, itll bake the rust off, tarnish the metal, so then you still have to scrub it with steel wool either way in order to get back to shiny metal? Is there not a method to remove all rust using household products or liquids/fluids that doesnt require soaking for 12 hours and will remove all rust without scrubbing or potentially electrocuting oneself? In the meantime, i think ill stick to the bench grinder with wire brush attachment. And ive yet to find a manufactured product designed for removing rust that i felt did an exceptional job and truly got the item back to the original metal color without some sort of additional scrubbing involved. Either way, i guess youre still going to end up scrubbing it with steel wool one way or the other... slightly disappointed ill admit. But, still cool to watch tho. Thanks for sharing. 😊
