Tim's book is great, I just finished reading it tonight, and introduced and expanded my mind so much on the topic. It's funny I thought to myself that Time treatment on the divine council was worth the price of the book itself because it is so paradigm shifting and so unique and compelling, and so absent in our theology today, and then the host said the same exact thing! Tim really attacks this topic from every perspective imaginable.

Any concept of post-flood Nephilim implies that God failed: He meant to be rid of the via the flood but couldn't get the job done, He must have missed a loophole, the flood was much of a waste, etc., and now you have to invent an un-biblical tall-tale about how they made it past the flood.

The way I read it, the "afterward" days are still before the flood. "In those days" seem to refer back to verse 1, "when men began to multiply on the face of the earth." But there could be more to it, I suppose.

You are 100% correct and I've pointed that out to hundreds of times. Post-flood Nephilim imply that God failed: He meant to be rid of them but couldn’t get the job done, must have missed a loophole, the flood was much of a waste, etc.: is that correct?

@Ken Ammi Sounds about right to me 👍 Edit: I don't know why I said "Sounds about right", God didn't fail. We read about giants in the land after the flood, not sure you can consider them to be nephilim. Could have been demonic influence, or something in the genes in one or more of the 8.

How then do you explain the nephilim that appear in scripture after the flood?
@MazePage8 ай бұрын
@@Zaloomination The nephilim/giants in Numbers 13:33 were not some ancestors of pre-flood nephilim/giants, if that's what you're thinking. They are products of human females mingling with fallen angels. Numbers 13:33 indicates the level of evil that was occurring; God wanted to use Israel to bring judgment on the sons of Anak.

Hebrews 1:5 says God has never called an Angel His son. So if the Bible is His inspired Word then I'm confused.
@KenAmmi-Shalom Жыл бұрын
Friend, Hebrews 1:5 says God has never called an Angel His son within the context of that no one, not even Angels, are like unto THE Son, God's only begotten unique, authoritative, Son. The context isn't about Angelology, it's about Jesus. You might as well argue that born again Christians aren't God's sons since Jesus is God's only begotten Son.

Genesis 4, explains that men began to call on the name of the LORD. If we call on the name of the LORD, we become the "sons of God. Also, Jesus said that angels don't marry.
@KenAmmi-Shalom Жыл бұрын
@@j.bergland6887 Indeed, "If we call on the name of the LORD, we become the 'sons of God'" and sons of God in the Bible include Adam, Angels, the Israelites, Christians, and Jesus. It's not the case that, "Jesus said that angels don't marry."

The reference is to being begotten, as in of the same spirit as GOD. Only Jesus is the Son of GOD, not of the sons plural which all angels are. GOD Bless ❤️

@@KenAmmi-Shalom The promise that he’s going to give us the power to be the sons of GOD is actually in reference to a future fulfillment when we lose our flesh and become spiritual beings to be with Christ as he reigns forever in paradise. Even in the context of the usage you’re trying to reference it is still talking about becoming an Angel someday. There are a myriad of passages in the New Testament that are going to make this clear that we will never be fleshly ever again after Christ returns. GOD Bless! ❤️

Here is something worth noting, although it is a myth that Ligers never stop growing, it is not a myth that they grow absolutely huge compared to their parents. A Liger is the result of mating between a male lion and a female Tiger. Ligers are known to reach full grown weights up to and over 1,700 pounds. Male lions typically reach their full grown weights between 330 and 550 pounds. Female Tigers typically reach their full grown weights between 200 and 370 pounds. A Liger not only weighs much more than its parents, but it is also physically gigantic by comparison. However when you mate a female Lion with a male Tiger the result is called a Tigon. Tigon’s result in sizes appropriate to the size of their parents, and are usually smaller than Lions. There is no growth inhibitor change in the Ligon’s DNA like we see in the Liger’s DNA. My point here is fairly straightforward, when an Angel transfigures themselves to a fleshly state(which is seen several times in scripture) and breeds with a female human, the result is like the phenomenon we see with the Liger. The breeding pair appears to form not only a being with 6 fingers per hand and 6 toes per foot(2nd Samuel 21:20), but also lacks the normal growth inhibitors in the DNA that a standard human to human pairing expresses. This is how giants come from this specific pairing and GOD gave us examples like the Liger as a basis to understand this 😉👍🏼 As for how did we get Rephaim after the flood when all the Nephilim died in the flood, look no further than GOD’s promise to Noah to save only his family. Rephaim are not pure Nephilim, and when we study the text of scripture you’ll never find a single Rephaim outside of Ham’s ancestors, never in the lines of Shem or Japheth does the Bible show this happening. The wife is one flesh with her husband, and there was a lot of time between Jared(who’s name implies that the incursion of Angels sleeping with women happened in his lifetime) and the flood itself. Because of this amount of time before the flood where these terrible giants roamed the Earth, they would have had plenty of time to breed and reproduce. Nephilim before getting too oversized still had the ability to breed with normal women, they even had the ability to breed with each other(since presumably there would also be female Nephilim). A study of genetics would tell us that in either pairing there would have been the potential to produce normal sized people and half-breeds(presumably smaller sized Nephilim). With Nephilim breeding only other Nephilim there also would’ve been the potential to create more pure blooded Nephilim. However, if normal size people were produced they would always have a latent recessive trait in their DNA that gave the possibility to produce more giants(although not pure blooded Nephilim). Ham’s wife was the one flesh of Ham, so even if her DNA was corrupted GOD was duty-bound by his promise to Noah to spare her life during the flood. YHVH is not a liar and his word is final once it is spoken. At this time marrying your own sister was the normal way of starting a family, and there’s a word in the Hebrew that indicates Noah was physically unblemished(presumably uncorrupted at a genetic level as well as the last man obeying GOD on Earth when the flood occurred). Noah was the only one left who could produce the Messiah without the genetic blemish brought forth by Satan’s angels. I would point out that this is why Peter talked about angels being locked away in Tartarus in darkness and chains until the judgment of the Earth. What those Angels did was actually so heinous in GOD‘s sight that he punished them in a way where all other angels would take notice and be fearful to ever do what they did. We see a clear example of this when Jesus approached two demonically possessed men and their demons cried out in fear that they didn’t want to be thrown in Tartarus too and they accused Jesus of arriving before it was time for them to be punished and cast into the Lake of Fire. We learn three very important things in this exchange between Jesus and these demons. Firstly we learn that they are terrified of the punishment that fell upon the angels that slept with women. Secondly we learn that they know their ultimate fate and that they only have a certain amount of time before it happens even though they don’t know the exact day or hour when it will occur. And thirdly we learn that the angels of Satan did not know about GOD‘s plan of Salvation or that he intended to send his only begotten Son for a task besides punishing them once and for all at the end of the world. When they saw Jesus was there they pleaded with him because they thought their time was done before it was supposed to be done and they knew there was a different punishment that included being cast away early to suffer before that day should come and they were absolutely terrified of receiving that punishment as well. There is a logical conclusion to be made here that after the angels who slept with women were thrown into Tartarus, no other Angel dared to disobey GOD in that manner ever again because the punishment was not worth it for them. This early punishment scared the Angels more than anything because it meant they had to face wrath early. The Angels already know that they will face GOD’s wrath for all eternity after the final judgment occurs and facing that wrath any sooner is the most unappealing thing they know of. So here is my final point, Ham’s wife likely appeared normal, and for the most part she was a regular female human, but on specifically one of her two X chromosomes there was a recessive trait that could re-emerge giants if it was inbred in a certain fashion. We never see a single Rephaim after the flood until Ham’s grandsons, and it stands to reason that Ham’s sons all married sisters as did all of Shem and Japeth’s sons. This was totally acceptable at this time because DNA was much more wide open and ethnicities were still being formed through this practice. The Y chromosome takes on mutations by pairing with X chromosomes in each successive generation, and Ham’s grandsons and granddaughters were the first generation where the contamination in Ham’s wife could re-emerge in the form of giants by either two X chromosomes with the recessive corruption or an X and Y with the recessive corruption being paired together to result in a no longer recessive trait but instead a dominant trait. This is also why you see more tribes of Canaan without the genetic corruption present in their genetics than you see tribes of Canaan that do have the genetic corruption. In most tribal lines the traits simply disappeared over successive breedings that failed to retain it, but in other tribal lines the trait only got stronger to the point where they were all Rephaim. This is because of inbreeding or more appropriately termed “line-breeding” that had occurred. I would point out that the Greek translation of the Old Testament also indicates that Nimrod was a giant as well which is more questionable in the original Hebrew itself. Again, either way we only get biblical examples where Ham’s lineage had the corruption. With our modern understanding of genetics and a deep dive in scripture, it becomes deducible that the corruption returns via Ham’s wife and GOD had no choice but to allow Ham’s wife on the Ark because he is GOD and his word is always truth. For the sake of GOD’s promise and to show his love, he allowed Ham to make his own choices while also respecting him as Noah’s family and letting he and his wife board the Ark. GOD Bless! ❤️

Friend, there's no indication at all that "an Angel transfigures themselves to a fleshly state" nor that this "is seen several times in scripture" nor that when an Angel "results Rephaim are not pure Nephilim" but Rephaim had absolutely nothing to do with Nephilim: what made you assert that they did? Since any concept of post-flood Nephilim implies that God failed: He meant to be rid of the via the flood but couldn't get the job done, He must have missed a loophole, the flood was much of a waste, etc., you had to invent an un-biblical tall-tale about how they made it past the flood. As for Nephilim being "oversized": that's not only a meaningless statement since it's so vague but there's no reliable indication of any such a thing. You assert "the Hebrew that indicates Noah was physically unblemished(presumably uncorrupted at a genetic level" but the statement about him is about his righteousness and mirrors what was later said about Abraham. You say "What those Angels did was actually so heinous in GOD‘s sight that he punished them in a way where all other angels would take notice and be fearful to ever do what they did" but what does that good point matter since you told a tall-tale about post-flood Nephilim anyways? The "demons cried out in fear that they didn’t want to be thrown in" the Abyss. Genesis 1 teaches that everything yielded after their kind. The sons of God of Genesis 6 are not mankind - this goes against that precedence. We are called sons of God (John 1:12) - are we fallen angels? Jesus is called the Son of God - is He a fallen Angel? Finally - Goliath wasn't a descendant of the giants of Genesis 6 for ALL of those of Genesis 6 DIED in the flood - ONLY those on the ark survived.
@KenAmmi-Shalom Жыл бұрын
Well, since Angels look just like human males, we were made "a little lower" then them, and we can produce offspring with them then, by definition, we're of the same basic kind. That "We are called sons of God (John 1:12) - are we fallen angels?" is a non-issue since son/s of God refers to Adam, Angels, Israelites, Christians, and Jesus. Indeed, "Goliath wasn't a descendant of the giants of Genesis 6 for ALL of those of Genesis 6 DIED in the flood - ONLY those on the ark survived." Goliath was a Repha, not a Nephil.

@@KenAmmi-Shalom Being made a little lower has nothing to do with kind - angels don't have a body and thus don't have DNA. Furthermore, why did God have to form Eve from the rib of Adam rather than just calling down one of His angels? You say my question on us being called sons of God and asking if we're fallen angels is a non-issue. Unless you think that God approved of the [supposed] mating of angels and women - where are fallen angels clearly referred to as sons of God? I really don't think that is referring to angelic beings, but rather people who were followeres of God marrying women who... weren't
@KenAmmi-Shalom Жыл бұрын
@@rockymarquiss8327 God told us we were made a little lower than Angels. You say, “angels don't have a body and thus don't have DNA” but every single time they are described, they are described as looking just like human males, performing physical actions, and without any indication whatsoever that such isn’t their natural state. Again, Angles are always described as looking like human males, Adam needed a female mate. Fallen angels clearly referred to as sons of God in Gen 6 and the ways to conclude are: 1) Job 38:7 makes it clear that sons of God can refer to non-human beings, 2) Jude and 2 Peter combined put the sin of Angels to pre-flood days and correlate it to sexual sin, 3) there’s only a one-time sin of Angels in the Bible and if the Gen 6 affair isn’t it then when was it?, 4) the Angel view was the original, traditional, and majority view amongst the earliest Jewish and Christian commentators alike starting in BC days. There’s no pre-flood indication that there was anything wrong with, “people who were followeres of God marrying women who... weren't.” How did, “people who were followeres of God marrying women who... weren't” serve as the premise for the flood? Why doesn’t, “people who were followeres of God marrying women who... weren't” still result in floods?
