Love this stuffed potato idea, I'm very, very much a potato fan. I love making jacket potatoes or Hobo packets for easy outdoor meals. They are so easy to prepare and needs little supervision while cooking. I think you could probably pre-make and cook these in the oven at home with just about any filling, let cool, freeze them, then add another layer of foil (for extra protection when heating in fire since they are already cooked), then just take with you in a zip-lock bag and put them in the coals to heat through. They would still get that smoky fire taste while heating up. They would be perfect for overnighters, day hikes, cold weather camping (since you usually have a fire anyway), or for that first night when your all pooped out by the end of the day LOL, pre-done makes them even easier and gives you a greater variety of options on the fillings. Also, one more "tip", if I may, lol, if you rub or brush the outside of the potato with vegetable or olive oil, or butter and then sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper before wrapping and cooking, the potato skins become super yummy and are good for you too. 💗

We made some hobo meals on our other trip with Nicole (from Allegheny)! Actually, we might've done that at New River Gorge, too, haha. They were definitely really delicious. Cheers! -Andrew

Steak and mushroom!! Brocolli and Cheddar!! Pre/par cooking those potatoes is a good idea. I would even put ham, shrimp and tomato and have jambalaya!

Love your videos. Thank you. As a busy person, caught up in the rat race and work, and being someone who wants to travel more,I guess I live vicariously through others lol. Everything is great about your videos, but one thing stands out to me,and that is the narration. Excellent job!

My favorite so far has been dehydrated tofurky tacos. That ground stuff that comes pre-seasoned dehydrates really well. Throw on some cheese, put it in a wrap, and it's a tasty lightweight meal. It's not that creative, but it's the only meals that I make that isn't a one-pot bowl of mush.

If you nuke or par cook the potatoes before you leave they will be easier to scoop and require less cooking time over the embers. I like to pre-make chili or garlic shrimp pasta in cream sauce, then vacuum seal it, freeze solid and wrap in paper bags or newspaper, by the time I've hiked in they are thawed and only need to be reheated (boiled in the bags) to enjoy.

If you crack a egg open and pour it into a small mason jar, when you pour the egg out again into your cooking pan or pot, it'll pour out the entire egg just like when you put it in the jar. Multiple eggs don't mix unless you shake it well. Each egg will pour out at a single time. Also this must be the video you talked about in the stream you did Andrew.

Yup! It is indeed. Went on the stream right after sitting in those woods, haha. I've thought about carrying eggs in a container, but was worried about them spoiling quicker outside of the shell. I guess in a mason jar it'd be air tight, though. -Andrew

I'm guessing, instead of a spud, you could also use wraps or flat breads and fill them with you're favourite filling and fold then wrap in foil, these would cook quicker also, beans cheese and chilli sounds really nice :)
