Thanks for making this video, Tim! In my view, a critical stance on the downsides of technology is far more important than blind enthusiasm about its benefits. As a creative coding teacher myself, I'm not unaware of this fact, but keeping an eye on students’ engagement I tend to sell the message of my teaching in through the positive benefits of what you can accomplish with code. Your video has prodded my own awareness to increasingly incorporate the more reflective and critical counter-arguments. Thanks again. Keep up the good work! And btw please provide a link to the book you mention in the video’s description.

Hey Stig, I really love to hear that! Perhaps as Creative Coding Educators, we have a special responsibility and power to help young people achieve individual digital empowerment. Personally, this idea motivates me enormously! I look forward to our conversation at 11am. Here is the link to the book: link.springer.com/book/10.1007/b138958

Tim, thank you for the video. You have said that economy drives innovation, but I’d say that it rather innovations, especially disruptive innovations drives economy nowadays.

Hi Vitali, thank you very much for your comment and your argument! For me it works in both directions. I want to point out here that it is primarily those technologies that promise profit that prevail. Innovation is dependent on capital and, as a rule, that which has the potential to bring in money prevails. I would like to illustrate here that many beneficial innovations are not implemented due to the lack of capital.

@@timrodenbroeker It's very important the conversation you are opening, Tim. It's through the process of understanding technology aka coding or its language we can see the possibilities, limitations, promises and realities of it. Mainly through this process, a balanced opinion - critical thinking - about it can be put into place where we see how, when and why technology must be useful to us.

@@squarebynature Yep, i agree! You have summarized that very well!
