The store buys those same bananas for pennies and sells them to you for dollars. They pay so much less that gas stations can (and do) buy them from that store and still make a great profit. I used to purchase fruit and bananas from Walmart for a big truck stop and we sold it with a gp of 70 or better. I kept mine around 80-90 using price match and coupons. Don't hate on her, hate on the people robbing you.
