Another option is checking if you live near a Freecycle community. We've received several supplies from tiny seed beads to sewing machines. The best part is it's all free.

I get 90% of my embroidery thread from physical supply stores that are closing down and selling what's left of their stock online. I had to get familiar with the color catalog of every thread brand out there, but it's so worth it!

Oh yes, I love going in search of certain materials in the charity shops close to me (I live in London) and there’s a street where there are 10 charity and junk and thrift shops, and a cheap street market. I even look in dumpsters! 😂 I have found amazing things in dumpsters, a Burberry scarf was my latest find. Online it came up as £300/$400. On top of the dumpster, no lie.

You're lucky to have all these shops close to you. Oh wow, that's an unexpected place to find a Burberry scarf!

All I have to do is look around at all the yarn I have. That stops me in my tracks.
