I can stop watching ASMR videos now. THIS is what I've been wanting since I got involved in the community as a viewer. A linguistics video with emphasis on specific IPA symbols (i.e. stops and fricatives) as that is what gives me that lovely mini-stroke we all refer to ASMR. On behalf of my ears, I thank you, madam. Have a brilliant week/month/year/rest of existence.

@juicer677 жыл бұрын
InnocentWhispers ASMR 😄I guess "enunciation" is American English. In the US, it refers to articulation of speech in terms of its intelligibility to listeners, usually in the context of sentences rather than individual words. Well, as George Bernard Shaw said, "The British and the Americans are two peoples separated by a common language."

Was this a reference to the movie "My Fair Lady" by any chance? My dad always loved old movies so I've seen it at least twice by now haha. Also, I'm curious if elocution can be taught for English speakers with various accents. Typically one thinks of an "eloquent" speaker as someone with a very concrete grasp of a pure American or English accent. Can one speak eloquently with an Australian, Jamaican, Hispanic, etc. accent? Or is it only limited to those couple examples? TL;DR Linguistics are neat and the "standards" of language should ever be taken as indisputable facts
