Thanks Glenda for this wonderful tutorial on how to do the Over the Rainbow blanket using the Gradient yarn. Also, increasing the hook size from I to the K hook which gives a more airy blanket.

Hi, Glenda, I have been crocheting for 4 years now and I have completed many projects, from blankets to gnomes, however, when it comes to the Ripple Stitch or Chevron stitch, I cannot for the life of me, grasp them. I have started this blanket over at least 20 times, only to rip it out and start over. I am finally throwing in the towel. It’s beautiful and I wish I could master it, but I just can’t. Thank you.

Judi - I feel your pain - I just can’t get some things. I’ll keep trying, and it gets more frustrating. Sometimes I’ve discovered a different KZbinr and it’s worked. NOTE: Glenda, you’re terrific, I have learned a ton from you. Please don’t take offense. But sometimes we need to give ourselves space (days, weeks, months…) and then it clicks. So Judi, maybe try again in a couple months. Good luck 😍

Please try again! I had to rip mine out 3 times but finally got it after row 3- hope this helps: From the edge you started on (and after row 3) it should always be a ch 3 (from turning) a single DC in between the 2nd & 3rd DC in the V from the row below, and then 2DC into the next 6 V DC from the row below and then in the CH3 space below do 2DC 3CH 2DC. End the other edge with the 2DC CH3 2DC in the previous row CH 3 space and then basically 6 sets of 2DC V's into the previous row and in the last V of the previous row do only 1 DC and end with 1 DC in the top of the turning CH 3 of the previous row. Hope that helps more than confusing you more!

This is beautiful! I need to make two of them. One that’s the only gray gradient, and one that is the rainbow like yours. The only thing I’d change would be to add in a second purple gradient cake going the opposite color direction. This is such a beautiful blanket, Glenda!

Literally, after 2 weeks of tearing out, starting over, tearing out, starting over, perseverance paid off. I grabbed a pencil and a pad of paper and I started following word for word as you spoke. I even watched your stitch of the week, which helped. My mistake, which I repeated over and over again, was the ending of each row. I didn’t grasp the one double crochet in the final two double crochets and skip 2 double crochets and 1 doubler crochet in the 3rd chain of the turning chain. An idea for us who have difficulty, it would help if the number of crochets going up to the peak and down to the valley were shown. I really love this blanket and I was determined to get it.
