Frequently Asked Questions: 1. What clay do you use? I use a paper clay. I either buy it or make my own depending on what I want to create 2. What's the difference between the bought paper clay ( amzn.to/2r5FEHY ) and the homemade paper clay (A) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpy8eJl4r8SAirc (B) kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXbJXohslr94pas ? The homemade one is not that soft and is only good for textured surfaces like stones and tree bark. It is very cheap to make so it might worth to sand it and work it a little more than buying a paper clay. However, you can't keep it more than 5 to 7 days in the fridge. It has the best consistency when you just made it and it's fresh, so I would recommend you use it in the same day or the next and don't make more than you need 3. Can I use air dry clay? What's the difference between air dry clay and paper clay? Often times shops will sell both paper clay and ceramic clay with the same label "air dry clay". It's true, both are air hardening but there are quite a few differences: air dry clay(ceramic clay) is actually mud, natural clay, while paper clay is made with cellulose and other ingredients. Paper clay is stronger than air dry clay(ceramic clay). Air dry clay (ceramic clay) shrinks and the paper clay does not shrink. This is why paper clay is the better choice for my kind of projects. My projects usually require you to cover a jar or a plastic bottle. If the air dry clay shrinks and the bottle or jar remain the same size... you guessed it... your air dry clay will crack all around. It might be a lot cheaper but it's not what you need for these projects. 4. My clay cracks, how do you cover the cracks? You don't, you change your air dry clay to a paper clay! See why at the previous question 5. How to waterproof my paper clay creations? I recommend using a yacht varnish. Apply a few coats and make sure you cover it all around so no water touches your clay 6. What brand of paper clay do you use? I use "Das modelling material" - amzn.to/2r5FEHY 7. Where can I see the list of materials? As a general rule of my channel... READ MY VIDEO DESCRIPTIONS! I write it for you guys, is no secret what I use. For every video I write a description of what I do and what I use. 8. Do you sell your creations? No, not yet, my daughter loves them too much. 9. What colors do you use? I mostly use watercolors and acrylic paint.

This was my first time making anything having to do with clay. I even got the nerve up and made my own paper clay. Not only did it save me money but it was much easier to work with. I used your suggestion and kept a finger bowl of water by me to smooth the clay once I sculpted it. Far too often, I will watch a craft project vid and it never quite works the way it does in the vid. This time, everything came out eactly the way it should have. You have wonderful ideas. Thank you.

Awesome video and I want to thank you for posting this. I created my own haunted fairy house and lit it with orange lights. Although it took me almost five days to complete, it was worth it. My niece thought I had sent away for it and was amazed when I flipped it over and showed her the bottom of the house. Thank you again and I am now an ardent follower.

Hello.😁 thank you for sharing your extensive talents. You have created some of the most amazing sculptures across your career - I particularly like your larger pieces - they are just wonderful. I just have one question for you if you don't mind answering. Do you 'see' what you are going to create beforehand, ie planning/sketching etc, or do your pieces create themselves as you are working? I am curious about your creative processes as personally, I find I have to make a pretty detailed sketch beforehand and then make 'corrections' as I work, I cannot seem to get my ideas from my head to my hands without putting them on paper first, sketching and then resketching. Thank you for your continuing inspiration.
@CreativeMom7 жыл бұрын
+Alison Firth Thank you. Yes I make sketches before and change just a little bit when making the real thing

I just found your channel and I have fallen heads over heals!!! Not only are your armatures simplistic, but your clay work makes them look far more complex! And your painting is dynamite!!! I am going back through your videos and watching every chance I get! I see you use long handled brushes, if you live in the US I would love to send you the set I got several years back. I never used them cause they are too long. I would love to see someone use them for something like this!! Keep up the magnificent work!! From a new subscriber and fan!

Absolutely wonderful!!! Totally creative use for old plastic bottles. I love it. I see you use Das paperclay. Do you have much trouble with shrinkage or cracking?
@CreativeMom7 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for your comment. In most of my videos I used a paper clay called Das. It doesn't shrink so it doesn't crack if you cover something with it (regular air dry clay shrinks and cracks). You can find Das here amzn.to/2r5FEHY. To find out more information about each video, please check out the description. Have fun!

Thanks so much for your help. I bought some Das clay to use on a woodland base I'm creating and wondered how it went with the cracking/shrinking. You've been a big help... thankyou again! :)

have you ever considered selling your houses on etsy? you could make twice as much as you do here on youtube. because even though this is a tutorial and you give clear instructions. i feel like it would be so hard to recreate something as good as these. so i'd love to just purchase one of your pieces. preferably this one. i'm sure others would love to be able to purchase them as well :)
