An excellent point about the imprecatory psalms. Even these forms of lament are given to us to help us worship.

If we are living in Christ, under His blood and trusting in His forgiveness, we cannot live in unforgiveness toward others. The difference is Christ. IF Christ had never come to show love for ALL people and make a way for ALL to come to him, then yes, we would still be in the position of David, having to pray for hateful things to happen to our enemies. But Christ makes the difference...IF we choose to surrender to Him. God is well able to punish whoever needs it. We will only continue in torment if we don't leave vengeance to Him.

I believe the Son of Man demonstrated how we’re to reflect the “newness” when interpreting scripture. “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in NEWNESS of life (Rom. 6:4). An example is his laboring on the Sabbath Day, cause ALL scripture, written by The Spirit is profitable for teaching, for correction, for direction and for a course in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16). We don’t by OT ordinances, take “an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,” though those are eternally established because they’re the Creator(s). Another example is, a brother today, doesn’t marry his brother’s widow to raise his seed, but family isn’t less obligated to take care of them. We’re not to frame songs of vengeance in the same vein as King David. He also had many wives and concubines, which wouldn’t be acceptable today.
