In Living a Vocal Life’s special two-part series on motherhood and creativity, my friend, singer Rebecca Sanborn posed three powerful questions: “Friends, tell me your secrets. How do you get your creative work done? What are your patterns? How do you treat yourself when you can’t get to your work?” These questions sparked a conversation among 11 talented singers who candidly shared their stories on balancing art, work, and family.
In Part One, you’ll hear how these singers structure their lives, including tips on finding time and solitude for their creative work. In Part Two, you’ll hear how women navigate their inner lives when they can’t get to their work, plus the many practices they use to support their emotional well-being. Join us for this special series, where we explore the challenges and rewards of motherhood and creativity through their personal experiences.
This audio clip features vocalist, voice teacher, and somatic coach Ara Lee James.
