Thank you! That is coming next! It is platform target rendering pipeline I developed. So meaning KZbin VR and Apple Vision Pro will have a different rendering pathway. You being one of the best filmmakers on the planet when it comes to 360 and this is the best you could get out of this camera, the camera is not "game changing" or "world class 8K" as they themselves stated and their scamfluencers. The artifacting, the noise, the blur.. that is just bad. The excuse that "this is the best they have" shouldnt be an excuse. They should not release something unless it's ready for production. It's a novelty sadly. This is why they had to tell their influencers to not disclose their sponsorships, right here.

Yes, you are correct. Def NO world class 8K. World class 8K will be the $50,000 Meta camera 😅 This is the best we could get on X4. Smaller sensor camera you pay what you get. To get cinematic 8K which most of our other contents on this channel, my camera rig alone cost $20,000 and the post production is hard as we teach here. So considering all these, getting very grainy 8K is still better than nothing or 6K like before - which is worse. I do recommend check out One RS 1” first on my original review. It’s $749 something, but the quality is better in low light. BTW, we are NOT sponsored and shame on other influencers does not disclose this. We are one of the OG 360 camera reviewers, but now the space is getting too hype and every influencer trying to get in back a quick buck without the necessary knowledge in 360 shooting. It’s sad. Their action really positioned the community and give ppl who really care about the space a bad rep. Especially for some really greedy influencers blackmail the market / tech because they did not get their “sponsorships” money

@@hughhou unfortunately you cannot blame this on the influencers. You can only blame this on Insta360. And the fact that they sent out legitimate letters telling people not to disclose their sponsorship. That’s on Insta360 and absolutely no one else. You don’t get what you pay for, the cameras, overpriced, the technology is bad, and they are ripping off customers. I know you don’t agree with this, but hear me out. Marketing,. Clearly stated Crystal clear 8K footage and a much better sensor which it’s not. Groundbreaking technology, and their 5 nm chip. None of its true. As a photographer I know upscaled footage when I see it. And the video is bad. You can’t compare it to an x3 and x2 because that footage was bad also. The one RS is bad. All of that is money grab and it’s a shame that people push these cameras versus saying no until they come out with something worthwhile. Exactly the same reason that DjI waited 2 to 3 years to release the DjI pocket 3. They listened to their customers and did not try to money grab them on a pocket series camera. Does it have its flaws? Yes but image qualities not one of them. And putting $500 price tag on a camera that doesn’t even shoot as good of quality video in 4K single lens as the original pocket series camera, come on? And again, this goes back to my point if you can’t provide quality footage then don’t release it and this is exactly why through their false marketing and they’re Scamfluencers still trying to push this crap people are getting upset when they actually get the camera and it’s not this world class 8k footage. Remember their video (crystal clear 8k, game changing 360). The hell? No it’s not. And as a company who is supporting the Scamfluencers when you see somebody put world class 8K footage on their videos if it’s not true, as a company, you should be telling those people to tell the public that the camera is garbage in the 8k market. But they didn’t. They embraced it as game changing and clear when it’s not clear it’s over sharpened footage. I’ve made a challenge to every single person out there. That’s telling me that this thing is great to provide out of camera footage raw meaning untouched that goes against the footage I have. And they can’t do that. They just use the excuse of the price of the camera, and that’s what we have. Instead of just pointing out the flaws on posts! No more excuses should be made because people have ties with the company. They need to be adults and show every single flaw with this camera. I challenge you and everybody else to stand up to this company and do that.

So if they got something for free, that’s a sponsorship. And it doesn’t matter if somebody sponsored or not, they have a duty to be honest, and not omit the failures. In this case is the trashy artifact filled footage.

Watched this all the way through on a Metaquest Pro, using the KZbinVR app. 1st up - loved the film! A couple of Qs - the quality of the video dropped very noticeably for me in the road sections. Is that KZbin or the camera? Because the loss of detail was striking. 2 how did you do the neat reflective nadir effect? Lastly fyi in the quest pro, the resolution maxxed out at 2160s

Both. So moving pixels usually compressed in H265. The Codecs sux at encoding fast moving footage. Drone is fine as it is slow but Keeley driving in 60 miles per hours on the road and that is when the footage will break down. So X4 record in HEVC - so quality drop there - and then upload on KZbin is HEVC so drop again. You see higher quality if you have Apple Vision Pro for sideloading the source file. You skip KZbin compression but the camera still have compression there. That is why we want RAW footage always. Canon shoot RAW that is why it is always better in situation like this.

VR Gorillaz I believe shoot at 3D 360 on Pro 2 or Titan. So the bitrate is 10x higher for a professional camera. We shoot with tons camera as well for our regular high end 3D 360 video. So it make prefect sense. The camera quality is nowhere compared to 8K on Pro 2 or Titan still. You can see the quality different.

I think both! Depend on which condition. Direct sunlight X4 - but if you are okay with little soft image, the One RS give you more nature color and closer to cinematic look

I have already received the X4, but I haven't had time to try it yet because the weather is very bad. Until now, I could only try it indoors in low light conditions, but now that I see what it can do outside... it's very cool. I would like to know how you feel about the 3D solution (2x X4), because if it works, I will already buy the second one :)

Hi, how to remove/fix color noise artifacts in darker/shaded part of a 8k video which was shoot in daylight and with locked iso 100? Do you have this problem too? Seems like no noise reduction is used, while X3 5.7k video is clear at that part of the scene.

Strange - daylight you should not see color noise. Use Neat Video to know those noise out or resolve denoise. But it does has in-camera noise reducing or you can even try Insta360 Studio

@@hughhou Great thanks, I'll check it out. Any plans for an in-depth over view using it under water with the dive case. Just returned from key largo. Definitely some room for improvement. I can't prove it now but my early test seem to show the X4 case has more distortion vs the X3. I plan to do a direct test next time i can dive. Unfortunately my test is lake Erie may not be as exciting as the great coral reef. Uploading the x4 weekend reef video now.

Amazing Hugh! Looks good in 4K on my 27" Apple Studio Display, but it's amazing in the MetaQuest 3 KZbin app at 8K (when not buffering on 250mb wifi). Is that a ghost 👻 on the rocks near the arch at 6:57? Guessing it's a reflection off something 🤔 How much post production, did you use Topaz to sharpen or is most of it from the camera?

Lol you catch my error. That shot I need to patch all people behind us that just looking at us. Just a general good practices and to not put other people in my videos. 360 is. tough. But then I mess up the plate as the camera drift!! Another big problem I will discuss more on this new X4 in the next video now I have TON of editing experience with it in 8K. Lots of post production on it for sure but I will break it down soon. The base is 8K make lots of the work possible tho. The timelapse is 11K and it is crazy stunting. Make me wish I can do more timelapse.

So I bought this camera becuae of your rave reviews, and I am not impressed. It looks fecent becauee of the flat texture of the rocks and good lighting, but the camera itsself I dont think is better. There is lots of noise in the footage, and the sound is not synced correctly. It looks about the same as my RS 1 inch in good lighting, but everything else is worse. On top of that the stress from having the X4 plug in for Adobe totally making it so I could not use my Adobe package for a week until I threated to return the X4 is not a positve atart. Debating returning it. 😞

For what you do, you should return it if you can get full refund. It requires lots of post production to make it look good and since it light weight I most use it for my drone work as you saw my videos. But you do mostly ground work 1” is better.

KZbin has a compression Flag so 8K will compressed less than 4K - that’s why I use 8K camera. But if that 8K is not important for you, 1” had better dynamic range for sure.

But did you set the resolution to 4320p (8K) and view it on Meta Quest 3? I am pretty confident this video is the best quality X4 can get on KZbin in 8K. The national park NOT allow Kimchi to go in!! B/c he like to chase wildlife and hunt them... He got us in trouble. And he get tired so fast and I need to carry him and the camera. I know X4 is light but Kimchi is not... This video is entire edited in Adobe Premiere not touching any Insta360 software. They kinda silently launch the new Premiere workflow and I have been testing that for them. I will explain more in the next video. It is also all free if you have Adobe. It is very powerful RAW workflow.

Wait did you set it to 4320P? You need to manually set the highest resolution for 8K video. KZbin default give you very bad quality. Also the real different you need to see it inside Meta Quest 3 or Apple Vision Pro those VR headset.

@@hughhou Yes. It's 8192x4320. And it shows 8k (4320) while watching it on my MacBook ProMax M3 using Chrome. I literally cannot see any difference. Right out of the camera the 360 footage is 7680 × 3840. (I know you know this)...In order to get KZbin to recognize it as 8k, it has to be resized to 8192x4320 or at the very least, 7680x4320. After uploading and waiting for KZbin to finally finish the 8k render, it looks the same as I switch back and forth between 4k/8k while it's playing. Troubleshooting is taking entirely too long do to render times (mainly on KZbin side). Perhaps, I'll start making 10sec clips and playing with settings in Davinci. Straight out of Insta Studio won't produce 4320 files.. I think that is a BIG oversight on their part.

Takes a long time for KZbin to finally display the 8k version, but once it does...switching between the 4k and 8k versions looks identical on my M3 Max MBPro (in Chrome). I don't have VR goggles unfortunately. 8k video from other cameras displays correctly, it's just the Insta X4 8k 360 footage that's odd. I hope I can figure it out.

Google has intentionally limited their bit player. If you want better quality video viewing, then you must pay them for their higher bit rate players. Google offers freemiums, but their high quality is hiden behind pay walls. Just how Google operates today.
