Creature Craft Illinois 20000 cfs

The Illinois River in Oregon at 20,000 at the Kerby Gauge plus it was raining and there was waterfalls running in everywhere the entire way. Epic creature craft run and more than likely the highest decent of the Illinois River in CFS for inflatables. Estimated CFS by the end 55,000 to 70,000.

Cool to see what the Illinois looks like at flood. From the sound of it this boat only had trouble as it was over capacity for design. One person on the oars would probably be safer, but those paddlers did work their asses off, so give them that.

My dude back right took some beat downs! I've never been in a creature craft but definitely had some harrowing swims and know that feeling all to well. Uhhh am I gonna get a chance to breathe any time soon...sure could use a breath right around now.

So just saying Shawn & I were in the green & yellow 10'8" and we styled it though one of the biggest runs I've ever R2'd we only did one barrel roll and rolled our boat quickly, huge respect for Tim getting a mean first ride in a creature craft, also Kim for being fearless and yes Matt is a brave assh... -George

Wow....had the displeasure of an online interaction with the captain of this boat and I can see now that not only is he one of the biggest asshole trolls I've interacted with, but he's also incompetent and great at putting other peoples lives at risk due to his over confidence. What a shit show. Remind me never to be on the river with that guy around.

A lot of people hate on these types of rafts saying it doesn’t take any skill to use one. Ok so they have a good purpose then for new people that want to learn to raft in a safer way. Once you can get the skill you can move to a normal raft or a cataraft. It’s like a raft with training wheels lol. A beginner raft that can keep you alive in the biggest most dangerous water. But to tell you the truth if i wanted to take my family out alone on the river, I would feel safer in these types of rafts for sure. I think it would be better to have only 2 people in 1 CC so their head doesn’t go under.

100% you hit that accurately. There were a lot of mistakes made this day mainly me as a beginner CC boater getting into this river and judgement on this setup with three people by others. It was not a safe way to do it by any means. This is a terrible video for promotion of CCs which I have a super high appreciation for especially after this trip. People would have died in any other type of inflatable on that water no doubt.

It’s the 36 miles from the take out just above the confluence of the rogue river. I forget the name of the put in. It’s normally ran as a multi day trip. I believe it took 4 hours. Terrible video I will say it really make creature craft look bad but I cannot say enough about these boats. I had no business being on the water in a CC for my first time plus this boat configuration with 3 people is far less than ideal.

I used to think these "things" were cool. now I realize it takes no skill to use them. because of the short oars, the river dictates what's happening. you might as well lose the oars(same result, getting flipped, surfed, sideways)

Realize that if anyone became separated from the craft it would be certain death. These thing look dangerous floating on the side, not righting itself. What if a tube blows out, no one else would be able to help. I have kayaked the Illinois at 3000 cfs. Thats plenty for me. RPMMAX

@@MrManic52001 really, cause that dude in the back yelling help while his head kept going under seamed real safe. Yeah, the roll up and can get beatered in the holes. That does not make it safe. You are taking a limited controlled, top heavy, self straining raft down a river that spends half its time on its side because it flips easy per its design to flip upright as well. All that time on its side is spent not navigating the river and can end you up in bad spots. I would hate to see this thing pinned or wrapped, would turn into a death sieve. And this setup with people on the tube instead of the center is asking for trouble. That guy asked for help a few times. Plus, your getting guys that dont have the experience running more difficult river then they should be on becuase they expect the boat to make up for there lack of skills. You see it happen sometimes when someone goes from a raft to a cataraft.

@@mountain_ginger hahaha, these things are far superior to any current flotation systems. They are safer that is a fact. They are not fool proof nor has anyone stated you cant win Darwin award using one.
