X-Files is more of influence by the Twilight Zone, Buffy has other influences like My So-Called Life. Take your point though.
@44excalibur6 ай бұрын
@@borednow5838 Incorrect. Chris Carter, the creator of The X-Files, said many times in interviews that his primary inspiration for The X-Files was Kolchak: The Night Stalker. That's why he repeatedly tried to have Darren McGavin guest star on The X-Files, and McGavin said that he wouldn't do it unless Carter came up with a new character for him to play because he didn't want to do Kolchak again, and Carter created the role of X-Files founder and former FBI agent Arthur Dales for McGavin instead. The Twilight Zone had almost no influence on The X-Files because it was an anthology series. Also, Joss Whedon created Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the late 1980s, and the Buffy movie with Kristy Swanson came out in 1992, before My So Called Life even existed.

@@44excalibur Oh true I just find more of a link to the Twilight Zone, but fair enough.
@44excalibur6 ай бұрын
@@borednow5838 The X-Files did try to infuse the stories with some social commentary and moral allegory, similar to Rod Serling's work on The Twilight Zone, but the monster-of-the-week format with two central protagonists is closer to Kolchak.

Yes, even under closer scrutiny, the music in the hospital fight scene is very similar to Star Trek's 3rd season, " Is There No Truth in Beauty." Spock v Miranda in mind meld battle. The Star Trek episode was 3 years before " The Night Stalker" pilot.

I'd like to imagine a universe where Kolchak got the respect it deserved while it was still on the air, where it lasted not just one season, but many,,, So much so, that if you wanted your show to be a sucess, you had a crossover with Kolchak, on his show or yours,,, "Tonight Starksy & Hutch get unsolicited help from a brash, loudmouthed Chicago reporter, one who warns them that the biker gang they're hunting for are dealing something more dangerous than drugs,,, something that turned the entire gang,,, into werewolves,, Tonight on Kolchak The Night Stalker: Carl heads out west to investigate conflicting reports on a scientists reported long dead, killed in a freak accident, or some say by a monster! A large green monster of super human size and strength, but this monster has never apparently killed anyone else, which begs the question did that scientists really die, and if not, what's his connection to this monster?" Tonight on Kolchak: Carl investigates an astronaut and his fiancé, both who reported to be near death after seperate catastrophic accidents-- "Tony, now Tony there's something going on with these two, I know it, they may be by products of the R.I.N.G. project, Colonel Austin's ship blew apart on impact and he was reported to have lost an arm and both legs, same for his fiancé Ms. Summers in her skydiving accident, but they're walking around just fine and you misread my article, they weren't in a pick up truck, I said I saw them physically pick up a truck Tony,,," Well we can dream of the Kolchak-Verse anyway,,, Copyright me, now, all rights reserved 🎃
