I think the main downside of all credit card companies here in the PH is the fraud protection. Haven't experienced having unauth charge (hope we never experience it) but having 0 fraud liability or at least a hope that the bank will be definitely to help us and investigate properly and efficiently will somehow make us comfortable using our cards. I just hope there are more and clear regulations here in the Phils to protect the consumers. Anyways, love the review as always!

EDIT: as of 2022, ang most-used CCs ko na are my Citibank and BPI Visa Signature. Yes, nag reapply ako sa BPI kasi ang ganda ng discounts sa restaurants, palagi naka 50% off sa Wildflour, Raintree Restaurants, and Bistro Group to name a few. So far yung problems ko with BPI that I mentioned here addressed na -- like may OTP na for transactions vs nung last time I used. Phone banking has also improved by MILES! Yung last call ko regarding my card took minimal waiting period lang. I also use the Visa Signature to earn Mabuhay Miles since yung Citibank hindi na kasama sa partners ang Mabuhay Miles. Sa Asia Miles ko nalang siya tinatransfer. Good Morning Ms. Thea! I'm relatively very new to Metrobank, but I can see they have upgraded their app or system in terms of credit card transactions na. Parang Citi yung system nila sa app kasi for instance, nagswipe ka amounting to PHP 500, it will be reflected immediately doon sa app with a status ("unposted") and status "posted" after a day or two. Convenient sya for us MB CC holders kasi namomonitor natin if it is an unauthorized/fraud transaction. Of course, I took in to consideration na itong vlog mo na was uploaded a year ago, and by that time 'di pa gaano naupgrade or naupdate. hehehe. safe swiping po! And I'm a subscriber too! 😉😊

Btw, yung eastwest mo i heard na pag umabot ng 300k ang credit limit mo dun pwede mo paconvert sa platinum which is no annual fee forever. Annual Membership Fee for the first supplementary card of BPI cc is free for life, not a promotion. :) For the 2nd to the 6th, they will have half of the AMF of the card variant

Just to share my experience.. HSBC - I like it because of the 0% installment program nila pwede for 3 to 6 months! Ang saya! Bpi - this is my first ever card, started with 10k credit limit, ngayon 6 digit na. Dami din nilang perks!! Dami kong GCs! Totoo ung sinabi mo, ang tagal ng customer service lalo na kung ipapa waive ang annual fee Citibank- I have this , simplicity ..dahil sa FREE ANNUAL fee forever!!! I will try the Citi rewards card! For HSBC, the platinum card was not much of a really high perks card. The premier credit card is their most expensive card which i think is better to compare to other gold/platinum cards from other banks.

I worked at citi bank as a customer service, for you to avoid the foreign fee of 3%, you may request the merchant to charge you in peso (Philippines), the annual fee is prohibited for refund. It's already part of terms and conditions ng card. For the annual fee refund you mentioned. It just only a one time courtesy. Benefits and parts po yun ng card yung annual fee na binabayaran ninyo.

Actually may foreign fee parin if you choose to be charged in Peso. Mas malaki pa spread ng POS machines vs cross-border charges. Annual fee can be waived annually by request though yun nga they are more strict now. Anyway sad na wala na Citi CCs offered here :(

Yung HSBC pwede nyo ipaconsolidate wherein pagaadd ang credit limit ng dalawang card, tapos ititira mo yung isang card na gusto mo. Separate limit na credit card RCBC, I have 3 card air asia, platinum JCB, platinum visa lahat separate. Eastwest you can convert it to platinum wherein no annual fee for life as long as yung limit mo is 300k and up.

Got my citi premier miles and they did not even ask for proof except for my ID. Ang bilis wala pang 1 week dumating na cc ko. Ang nakakakatawa pa dito yung mga cc ko sa BPi at bdo kung nasaan yung banks ko na 6 digits yung umiikot na pera dahil sa business and salary ko ang binigay na limit sakin ay 20k lang. Samantalng yung Citi ko 6 digits.

Oo nga no sa BPI pang 3rd time (year) ko lang nagrequest magpawaive ng Annual Membership fee nagulat ako gusto sana nila ibawas sa points ko. But then dahil kulang pa ung points ko babayaran ko na lang daw pwede din daw installment. Sabi ko ay bakit dati wala namang ganito, once na nag request ako antay lang ako 2 mins tapos babalikan ako ng agent approve na agad. Haha sa huli napapayag ko din sila. Ewan ko mahirap ata tlga dahil pandemic eh.
