If I didn't watch this, I would have thought avoiding credit entirely is best. Thank you.
@TobiDerin3 жыл бұрын
Glad you watched it. If you’re disciplined and you understand how it works then you’ll definitely be good. I only spend money that I have in my debit on my credit card. I just use my credit card to build credit history and I send the money from my debit to credit as soon as I pay the bill or make the purchase. You don’t have to use it for “debt” or for an emergency. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾💕

Hello Tobi. Nice video. Can you throw more light on what you meant by "don't close out your oldest credit card".
@TobiDerin3 жыл бұрын
Sure! The main reason is because your credit history/length affects your credit score. The longer you’ve had your credit account in good standing the better for you. That gives them long history/report of you paying your bills on time/in good standing since closing your first credit card will shorten your average credit age. They will see the consistency when you have longer credit age as it shows how long you’ve managed credit and you’ll be considered less risk if you’ve been in good standing.

Warn people as well about leveraging life-style off all your future income. It's okay to say no..that new phone is not necessary. Affording monthly payments is not the same as affording the good or service. Many of my Canada set of 2005 are in financial purgatory.

So one must take credit in Canada? Hmmm we wey dey come from najia , as an adult i have never collected loan from bank. I don’t even like borrowing. I love living within my reach always . Thanks for sharing ❤️
@TobiDerin3 жыл бұрын
It’s not a “must” but with the way things are designed here, living without a credit card can make things difficult as you might need it for small holds in the future (such as car rentals), there are also some places that only accept credit card so it can be annoying. Then the area of credit history for house mortgage later on (except you’re planning to buy your house with cash tho). I only use my credit card to build credit history and for situations where only credit card is accepted. I use my credit card for my lower bills (e.g Apple Music etc). I usually have the money in my debit or have cash then I transfer it to the credit card after I’ve used it to pay the bill.
