Interesting...would love a video where you run an analysis, interpret the results and improvise the stiffening of the structure and give second analysis trial to get obviously less stress and deflection results....keep up the good work..

I have faced "Model is insufficiently constrained for the analysis" error. It refer to springs. What should I do to correct this error?

Pls check if you have rigid links between spring centre and hole’s outer edge. If u still get the error, run a modal analysis with rigid mode search turned on. It will tell you where your model is detached from the equation.

Make a vedio on how to read the results, if it is dispalying 200Mpa explain what does it mean. And basics of FEM ,like why we need to mesh a component, what kind of constains should be given at different parts/joints, and different types of analysis. so far so good .keep going we mechons are there to support you.

@@MECH_ADHI thank you, how to make the point size bigger it is not visible as what is in the vedio, i tried searching in option, entity display but couldnt find the right one.

@@azarudin1703 I am using Creo 8.0. If you are using any version before that, datum point would not look as big as show in the video. I tried searching for a config option to change its size but haven't found one yet. I will let u know if I find one. Thanks!

One question. Why do you idealize a fastener as a spring when Creo Simulate has a Fastener interface available where you can set preload? Is there any advantage in doing it your way compared to Fastener feature?

Good question. There are several ways we can represent Bolted joints. Even Creo represents the fastener as a stiff spring in the background while solving. The reason to use springs is to keep the mesh simple and extract accurate value of bolted joint forces. Using these loads engineer has to perform bolted joint calculations using hand calc or some program using python.

@@MECH_ADHI When you mean to keep the mesh simple, does this mean that we need an actual fastener modeled there if we want to use the "fastener" feature? Don't really know how it works/how to use it yet, still early on your videos and been really helpful so far! Thank you for making these and explaining!

@@its_oms_5012 Use of fastener tool from Creo is a quick and easy way to model a bolted joint. Doing this way is close to modelling a bolted joint using a beam element and RBE2 elements to connect the bolt head to your abutment. This created additional nodes on your model and thus, created more complexity. Using springs on the other hand, lets you define the stiffness explicitly and extract accurate loads faster (because stiffness is already plugged in, your solver doesn't necessarily create a stiffness matrix). Other reason is, you might have to deal with resilient joints (isolation mounts, rubber mounts or viscous mounts). In those cases, you would need to plug in different stiffness values in each direction. Spring becomes convenient in those scenarios. Bottom line is, to perform bolted joint calculations for large models and resilient mounts, spring make things much eaiser. For small models, fastener can be used where computational time is disregarded.
